Introduction:
- Multiplication is a basic mathematical operation that gives product of numbers.
- In this lesson, we’ll focus on multiplying a 2-digit number by a 2-digit number.
Problem 1: Imagine you A shopkeeper sells 36 books in a day. Each book costs of Rs.75 . How much did he make in a day?
Let’s represent this situation mathematically: 36 books × 75 Rs per book
He will make Rs. 2700 in a day.
Problem 2: If each movie ticket costs Rs.80, and you buy 12 tickets for a family outing, how much do you spend in total?
You will spend Rs. 960 in total.
Multiplication Steps :-
Example 1: Multiply 56 × 24
Step 1 : Multiply the Ones Digits (6 and 4)
Step 2: Place the Result in the Ones Place and Regroup
Step 3: Multiply the Tens Digit (4) to Top tens (5).
Step 4: write a 0 in ones place as we will multiply with tens.
Step 5 : Now Multiply by Tens Digit (2) to Top ones (6).
Step 6 : Put ones digit(2) near 0 and carry tens digit(1) as step 3.
Step 7 : Now Multiply by Tens Digit (2) to Top tens digit (5).
Step 8 : Now Add the regrouped amount and write down near step 7 answer.
Step 8 : Add the numbers.
Example 2: Multiply 67 × 46 .’
Example 3: Multiply 82 × 57 .
