Answer the following questions:
(1) What problems did Sneha face as she walked to her tuition?
Ans :- Sneha faced so many problems as she walked to her tuition. She had to negotiate many mud puddles and cow pats. But a lorry swerved so near her that she had to jump into a quagmire of mud and dung. Moreover, the thick, black diesel fumes emitted by the lorry momentarily choked her.
(2) Why did Sneha feel that she had no chance of beating Preksha?
Ans :- Sneha felt that she had no chance of beating Preksha because Preksha had far better resources and advantages than Sneha had. Presksha came to school by a car and so she did not have to worry about time lost and fatigue caused by walking a long distance. She also had a computer and a printer to write, check and print her essay.
(3) What was Sneha’s rules for a new religion?
Ans :- Sneha’s rules for a new religion were –
(i) The sun is our father because he gives us energy.
(ii) The earth is our mother because she sustains us.
(iii) Trees are our elder brothers and sisters who give us oxygen, food and shelter.
(iv) Animals are our younger brothers and sisters who also help us.
(v) Thus we must help and protect our family.
(4) ‘The whole society was to blame.’ What made Sneha feel so?
Ans :- There were no rules in the society for preserving the environment. Cows were allowed on the city roads. Lorry drivers drove smoky vehicles. Major pollution is caused by industries emitted poisonous gases. Moreover, the nations used nuclear fuel and made toxic garbage. All of these made Sneha feel that thw whole society was to blame for environmental pollution.
(5) Why did Sneha hug her friend with eyes full of tears?
Ans :- Sneha hugged her friend with full of tears as she was very happy that her friend Preksha had submitted the essay on behalf of her.

Respected Sir,
With due respect I beg to inform you that our colony in Surjanagar, ward no – 09 is suffering from serious garbage problem. The heap of garbage has filled the area with offensive odour. The drainage system is choked and overflowing. It has become the breeding ground for mosquitoes and spreading fatal diseases like malaria, dengue etc. Overall, the condition of our locality is at the worst possible situation.
Therefore, I earnestly request you to take the matter seriously and take necessary steps. I shall be highly obliged if you take immediate action as early as possible.
