Early life
Jasprit Jasbir Singh Bumrah was born on 6 December 1993 to late Jasbir Singh and Daljit Kaur in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. His father passed away when was 7 year old. He also has a sister named Juhika Bumrah. Both of them were brought up by their mother who is a school teacher in Ahmedabad. Jasprit completed his schooling from Nirman High school, Ahmedabad. He played cricket from a young age of 14. Kishore Trivedi was his mentor.

Domestic Career :
In October 2013, For Gujarat Bumrah made his first-class debut in cricket against Vidarbha in the 2013-14 season. By picking up 7 wickets he shined in his debut match. He became the side’s leading wicket-taker after the tournament ended. After gaining success during his Ranji Trophy season, in 2012-13 he made his T20 debut against Maharashtra. He played a significant role in Gujarat’s win over Punjab in the final, for which he was awarded the Man of the Match award.
IPL Career :
He was only 19 years old when he made his IPL debut against Royal Challengers Bangalore and with a respectable figure of 3/32 he emerged on top of the opponents. He bagged 3 wickets in his debut match and became the second bowler in the history of the tournament to do so. He played only 2 matches for Mumbai Indians in the Pepsi IPL 2013 but was again retained by MI in the Pepsi IPL 2014 season. Ever since he has been an integral member of the Mumbai Indians.

T20I Career :
On 27 January 2016, he made his T20I debut for India against Australia. In August 2016, in the T20I series against West Indies, he finished the calendar year with 28 wickets and became the highest wicket-taker in T20I. In January 2017, He picked up 2 wickets and gave away 20 runs in the second match of the T20I series of England’s 2016-17 India tour and also received the Man of the Match award.
ODI career:
On 30th August 2016 he made his ODI debut against West Indies. In 2017 in a bilateral ODI series of five or fewer matches, he made the record for most wickets (15) taken by any fast bowler, against Sri Lanka. By bowling a no-ball in the final of the Champions Trophy 2017, he committed the blunder of his career that resulted in a wicket. In India’s tour of South Africa in 2022, he has been named Vice-captain of the Indian squad. KL Rahul has been named as the skipper as Rohit Sharma was ruled out of the SA series owing to an injury.
Test Career :
In November 2017, Bumrah made his Test debut against South Africa. He clean bowled the South African legend, AB de Villiers, and couldn’t have asked for a better maiden wicket than that. During the 3rd Test Match of India’s Tour of South Africa 2017-18, with the figures of 5/54 from 18.5 overs, he took his maiden five-wicket haul in Tests in the same series at Johannesburg. Then his second five-wicket haul was against England. During the India Tour of Australia 2018, he played a vital role. In the same calendar year, he is the first Asian bowler to take five-wicket hauls in Australia, England, and South Africa.
ICC World Cup :
For the World Cup 2019, Bumrah was selected for India’s squad. After Muhammad Shami, he is the second-fastest Indian to complete his 100th wicket in ODIs in a match against Sri Lanka. In the 2019 World Cup, he was the highest wicket-taker for India. He took a hat-trick in the second test match of India’s tour of the West Indies 2019 and became the third Indian to do so.
Owing to the unavailability of regular vice-captain KL Rahul he was named Vice-captain of India for the T20I and Test series against Sri Lanka in February 2022. During the second day-night Test against Sri Lanka, Bumrah took his maiden Test five-wicket haul in India in March 2022. He was among the Wisden Five Cricketers of the Year in April 2022. As Rohit Sharma was ruled out due to his suffering from covid-19, Bumrah captained the Indian Test team against England for the first time on 1 July 2022. According to ICC, he became the number 1 ranked bowler in ODIs on 17 July 2022.

In June 2017, in order to raise traffic awareness the Jaipur traffic police used a hoarding of Bumrah’s no-ball Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy.
