Question 1
Find, (-58) + (-78) =?
(a) +136
(b) -136
(c) +98
(d) -98
Ans:
(b) -136.
When two negative integers are added we get a negative integer.
Question 2:
Find, (-128) +72 =?
(a) 56
(b) -56
(c) 65
(d) -65
Ans:
(b) -56.
When one positive and one negative integers are added we take this difference and place the sign of the bigger integers.
Question 3:
(-9) + (-4) ▭ (-9) – (-4) Fill in the blanks.
(a) >
(b) <
(c) ≥
(d) ≤
Ans:
(b) <, because (-9) + (-4) = -13
= and (-9) – (-4) = (-9) + 4 = -5 – 13 < – 5
Question 4:
From the above line give the answer of following questions.
Find the difference between hottest and coldest place?
(a) 45
(b) 80
(c) 65
(d) 40°C
Ans: (d) +40
Hottest place = Bengalore = 25°c
Coldest place – Ladakh – 15°c
and there difference is –
25°c – (-15°c)
= 25°c
= 40°c
Question 5:
What is the temperature difference between Nagpur and ooty?
(a) 15°c
(b) 10°c
(c) 20°c
(d) 25°c
Ans:
(b) 10°c
Nagpur = 5°c
Ooty = 15°c, 15°c = 10°c
Question 6:
Choose the pair of integer whose sum is -9
(a) (-6) + (-2)
(b) (-6) – (-3)
(c) (-6) + (-3)
(d) (-3) – (-6)
Ans:
(c) (-6) + (-3) = -9
Question 7:
Fill in the blanks by choosing value from -89 + [ ] = 57
(a) 142
(b) 148
(c) 82
(d) 52
Ans:
(b) 148, When we add higher value than 89 then gives positive value, so we add + 148 it means, -89 +148 = 57

Question 8:
-15 × (-6) =? Find.
(a) -90
(b) 90
(c) 105
(d) -105
Ans:
(b) 90.
When two negative integers multiply then gives positive value/integers.
Question 9:
Solve 15 × [7 + (-2)] =?
(a) 30
(b) 75
(c) -75
(d) 105
Ans:
(b) 75, 15 × [7 + (-2)]
= 15 × [5]
= 75
In that we first solve bracket then multiply.
Question 10:
8 × 15 × (-4) =?
(a) 480
(b) 100
(c) -480
(d) -120
Ans:
(c) – 480,
15 × 8 × (-4) = 0
120 × (-4) = – 480
One positive and one negative integer multiply the give negative value.
Question 11:
Evaluate -50 ÷ 5 =?
(a) 15
(b) -25
(c) -10
(d) +10
Ans:
(c) -10, -50/5 = -10
When we divide negative integers by positive integer we divide them as a whole number’s and then put minus (Sign) (-) before the
quotient.
Question 12:
Evaluate (-65) ÷ (-13) =?
(a) -15
(b) 10
(c) -5
(d) 5
Ans:
(d) 5, -65/-13 = 5 when we divide negative integer by negative integer. We divide them as whole numbers and the put positive sign before the quotient or that negative sign get cancelled.
Question 13:
[-15+7 (4 × (-5))] × 4 =?
(a) -620
(b) +620
(c) +610
(d) -610
Ans:
(d) -620, = [-15 + 7 (4 × (-5))] × 4
= [-15 + 7 (-20)] × 4
= [-15 + (-140)] × 4
= (-155) × 4
= -620
Question 14:
168 ÷ (-2) =?
(a) 84
(b) 82
(c) -82
(d) -84
Ans:
(d) -84, 168/-2 = -84
When one positive integer divide by one negative integer then divide them as a whole number and put a sign negative (-)
Question 15:
A shopkeeper earns a profit of ₹1 by selling. One eraser and incurs a loss of 50 paise per sharpner while selling shopner of his old stock. In a particular month he incurs a loss of ₹5. In this period, he sold 45 erasers. How many shopner did he sell in this period?
(a) 100
(b) 125
(c) 150
(d) 500
Ans:
(a) 100
Profit earn by selling one eraser = ₹1
Profit earn by selling 45 eraser = ₹45
Which we denote by + ₹45
Total loss given = ₹5, which we denote by – ₹5
Profit earn + loss incurred = Total loss
Loss incurred = – 5 – 45 = (-50) ₹ = (5000) paise
Loss incurred by selling one shopner = 50 paise
Which we write = -50 paise
So, number of eraser sold = -5000/-50
= 100
