Edudel, Directorate of Education Govt. of NCT of Delhi Class 6 Mental Maths Chapter 5 Understanding Elementary Shapes Questions Solution. In this chapter, there is total 50 math problems. We have given each questions solution step by step.
- Two lines can be drawn parallel to a given line l from a point at a distance of 2.5 cm from line l. One line below line l with 2.5 cm distance and one line above the line l with 2.5 cm distance.
- PQ = 9.1 cm and PR = 2.9 cm
The length of line segment RQ = PQ – PR
The length of line segment RQ = 9.1 cm – 2.9 cm
The length of line segment RQ = 6.2 cm
- 90⁰ (right angle)
- From quadrilateral PURE , we can see two pairs parallel sides with no 90⁰ angleso the Quadrilateral PURE is Parallelogram
- The sum of measure of ∠MSR and ∠RST
As the sum of angle MSR and angle RST is the straight angle which is 180⁰
So the sum of measure of ∠MSR and ∠RST= ∠ 180⁰
- If two intersecting lines are perpendicular, then find the measure of the angle between them is 90⁰
Angle Rohan turn through = ∠ 180⁰ – ∠45⁰
= ∠135
Or
Angle Rohan turn through = ∠ 90⁰ + ∠ 45⁰
= ∠ 135
- Quadrilateral ABCD
We can see four sides, four vertices, and four angles so the given ABCD shape is Quadrilateral
- Rotation = 360⁰
Time = Angle – – – – ( equation 1)
12 hrs = 360⁰
1 hr = 360⁰ / 12
1 hr = 30⁰
Given time = 5 hr
Minute hand = 12
Hour hand = 5
5 hr = 30⁰ × 5
5 hr = 150⁰
Therefore angle between the hour hand and minute hand of a clock at 5 o’clock is 150⁰
- Number of spokes = 8
Wheel is in shape of a circle
Angle of wheel = 360⁰
Angle between a pair of two consecutive spokes = Angle of Wheel ÷ No. Of spokes
Angle between a pair of two consecutive spokes = 360⁰ ÷ 8
Angle between a pair of two consecutive spokes = 45⁰
- The shape of a chess board is shape of Square
- The angle between the hour hand and minute hand of a clock at 6 o’clock is the straight angle
So the angle is 180⁰
- Cone
- Sphere
- Cuboid
- Cylinder
- Cube
- Cuboid
- The number of vertices in a triangular prism
Vertices/ corners in a triangular prism = 6
- The number of acute angles in the given figureis 5
30⁰, 60⁰, 20⁰, 70⁰ and (60+20⁰)
- The number of edges in a square pyramid is 8
- Scalene and right-angled triangle
- Straight angle (180⁰)
- Equilateral triangle
Complete circle has angle of 360⁰
No. of Angles required to complete the circle with 30⁰
= 360 ÷ 30
= 12
No of Angles required to complete the circle with 30⁰ is 12
- Name the type of the triangle ∆TRY, if m∠T = 50⁰, m∠R = 60⁰ and m∠Y = 70⁰
All the angles are less than 90⁰
So the type of triangle ∆TRY is a acute angle Triangle
Rotation or Total angle = 360⁰
straight angle = 180⁰
No. Of 45⁰ angle required to make a complete angle
= Total angle / 45⁰
= 360 /45
= 8
No. Of 45⁰ angle required to make a complete angle is 8
- North
- The solid shape having 5 faces, 9 edges and 6 vertices is Triangular pyramid
The solid shape having 6 edges, 4 faces and 4 vertices is Triangular pyramid
- The sum of two adjacent angles of a rectangle = 180⁰ . As all the angles of rectangle are 90⁰
- Faces a hexagon-based pyramid have = 7
- Angle turned = 180⁰ + 90⁰ = 270⁰

- The number of corners = 4
- The shape of a road-roller is Cylinder
- The solid with only one vertex is Cone
- Vertices = 7
- Edges = 12
- Faces= 7
- V – vertices and F – faces,
3V – 2F = (3×7)–(2×7)
3V – 2F = 7
- E – Edges and V – vertices,
2E – 3V = (2×12)– (3×7)
2E – 3V = 3
- E – Edge, V – vertices and F – Faces,
F + V – E = 7+ 7- 12
F + V – E = 14 – 12
F + V – E= 2
