Difference between Infrasonic sound and Ultrasonic sound
Infrasonic sound
1.) The sound with frequencies below audible range of human being is known as infrasonic sound.
2.) Sound with frequencies less than 20 Hz is known as infrasonic sound
3.) The human ear cannot hear this sound but elephants and whales can hear this.
4.) Sound emitted during earthquakes, volcano are nothing but infrasonic sound.
5.) Infrasonic sounds are useful for detection and monitoring of volcano eruption and other natural calamities like earthquake, meteors etc.
6.) Infrasonic may also be used in cardiography and seismo cardiography to study the function of the heart.
Ultrasonic sound
1.) The sound with frequencies above audible range of human being is known as ultrasonic sound.
2.) Sound with frequencies more than 20000 Hz (20 KHz) is known as ultrasonic sound.
3.) The human ear cannot bare this sound but elephants and whales can hear this.
4.) Animals like bats uses ultrasonic sound to detect the path and direction.
5.) Ultrasonic sounds are useful for long distance communication purpose, like using mobile or wireless transmission.
6.) Ultrasonic sounds are used in technique of ultra sonography which is used in diagnosis of disease like kidney stone, foetus development stages in mother’s womb.
