2.) Scratch software acts as a tool which is sued for creating interactive stories, games and animations etc by making use of block based programming.
3.) The Block-based programming is a type of computer programming language where we have to place the blocks in the right order just like the Lego building blocks.

Q4) Answer the following questions in one or two sentences each :-
1.) What do you mean by Scratch?
Ans :- Scratch is an educational and fun software which is created for the purpose of having fun/entertainment. It is a software which provides different types of tools for making interactive stories, games, animations and many more by making use of blockbased programming. Scratch is the software which is been developed by the MIT and can be downloaded from the website www.scratch.mil.edu
2.) What is a Animation
Ans :- Animation means making of movies by using different series/sequences of pictures, drawings, photographs of any objects which are different from each other, after which when the series/sequence are been viewed quickly, which results to the appearance of movements.
3.) What is a Script Area
Ans :- Before making any animated movie, one must need to decide and then write the script. Hence in the Scratch, script is been written in the Script Area. For writing the script in the scrip area, the blocks from the block-palette are been placed. The block values can be changed in the Script Area.
4.) What do you mean by a Script
Ans :- The script is the collection of blocks which are interlocked with each other for the purpose of creating animations, games, stories etc.
5.) What is a Sprite
Ans :- The Sprite is a small graphical object which moves separately within the stage, creating animation effect. Every new project starts with the single cat sprite. Scratch also allows the facility of selecting any different sprite which is available in its sprite gallery. You can also choose the new sprite of your own by downloading any image from the internet which image file formats must be supportable in Scratch . The image file formats are JPG, PNG, BMP, GIF etc.
6.) Name the 8 different coloured blocks in Scratch which are connected to each other to create puzzles, games, stories and animations etc.

Q5) Answer the following questions in brief :-
1.) Write a note on Stage.
Ans :- Normally before doing any sort of shooting or movie there is a need of a set which are required to be prepared and designed. In the Scratch, these sorts of sets are been designed or created on Stage. The value of the x and y coordinates changes, when you move your mouse anywhere on the screen’s white area. For ex – x : 215 ; y : -267. The white area which you see in the Scratch is called Stage where our stories, games , animations etc gets executed/played. Normally you may also see in Scratch, that stage is divided into x-y grid consisting of 480 units wide and 360 units long. In the middle of the stage, there is c,y coordinates having the values as (0,0). Below are the three buttons on which after clicking you can change the views of the stage
There are two buttons on the Stage
- Start green flag scripts :- After clicking on this button, the script gets activated
- Stop everything :- Once you click on this button, all the activated scripts gets stopped.
2.) What is a Costume and explain the different ways to create it.
Ans :- Taking an example of the cupboard/ wardrobe, that is kept in our house, there we find different types of clothes for us to wear. Same like that, costumes are also the different types of dresses that every sprites wear in Scratch. It also creates a unique appearance of the Sprite. By clicking on the costumes tab, one can easily create a costume in Scratch.
There are basically three types of ways in which one can create and edit a costume are as :-
- Paint– It opens Paint Editor.
- Import – It helps to intake the sprite which is available inbuilt in the gallery or any save image in the computer.
- Camera– This helps to open the web camera for taking the new picture for the costumes.
3.) Explain the steps for saving a project.
Ans :- When we are doing with any of the project, it is necessary for one to have the habit of saving the project/work each time. For saving a project we have two options i.e is Save As and Save. Save As option is used for saving the new project for the first time with different names. The steps are :-
- Make a click on the File menu Click on the option as Save As.
- Now you have select the location in the computer where you want to save a project and then enter a new File Name for the project.
- In the Project author field, you may type your own name. in the project, you may also add some extra information about the project.
- After completing all these process, now its time to click on Ok button.
Note :- In Scratch, the file needs to saved with the .SB file extension.
