Early life
Abhishek Bachchan was born on 5 February 1976 to Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. His parents are well-known veteran actors in Hindi cinema. He has a sister named Shweta Bachchan Nanda.
Abhishek started his schooling at Jamnabai Narsee School and then moved to Bombay Scottish School in Mumbai, next to Modern School, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi. He joined Aiglon College in Switzerland. Then he attended a business course at Boston University but he drop out and pursued his career in Bollywood. At the age of 9, he was diagnosed with dyslexia.
Personal/Love Life
In October 2002, Abhishek and actress Karisma Kapoor announced their engagement at his father Amitabh Bachchan’s 60th birthday celebration, but due to some reasons in January 2003 the engagement was called off.
Whilst filming for Dhoom 2, he fell in love with Aishwarya Rai. On 14 January 2007, the couple announced their engagement, and according to Hindu rituals, they got married on 20 April 2007. On 16 November 2011, they gave birth to a baby girl named Aaradhya.
Professional life/Career Synopsis
In 2000, alongside Kareena Kapoor, Bachchan made his debut by playing the male lead in J. P. Dutta’s war drama Refugee. Though at the box office it performed moderately well, both leads were praised and got positive reviews for their performance.
In 2003, he appeared in Sooraj R. Barjatya’s romantic drama Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon. For his performance, he was nominated for the first time for Best Supporting Actor. The very next year he won the award for his performance in Mani Ratnam’s political drama Yuva (2004).
In 2004, he co-starred with John Abraham, Uday Chopra, Esha Deol, and Rimi Sen in the hit action thriller Dhoom. In the same year, he did two more films namely Phir Milenge and Naach.
The next year he appeared in the crime comedy Bunty Aur Babli and this film became the second highest-grossing Bollywood movie of 2005. He was then seen in Ram Gopal Varma’s political drama Sarkar.
In 2006, for his performance in Karan Johar’s musical romantic drama Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna he won his third consecutive Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. In the movie, he Co-starred with Rani Mukerji, Shahrukh Khan, and Preity Zinta.

In April 2007, a model named Jhanvi Kapoor who worked with Bachchan in his movie Dus as a background dancer attempted suicide outside his house by cutting her wrist just after the marriage of Abhishek and Aishwarya. Jhanvi said that since the shooting of his movie Dus, they have been dating and she is pregnant with his child. However, these claims were rejected due to inefficient proof and she was declared a fraud.
