Argumentative Composition or Debate is basically a speech but in a persuasive and organized way where you support or disagree with a statement and try to prove your point by keeping various arguments. Debates are of various types from which argumentative finds its place for having a set of rules and logical way of presentation.

In Debate/ Argumentative Composition you try and explain the superiority of your opinion about a certain topic that can be with the motion or against the motion. You convince the audience and try to prove you points with valid examples as well as quotes which attracts the minds of audience and give your opinion more strength. The arguments kept in debates are very well organized and are explained with details from start to end. If the topic consists of timelines from past, it should either be explained from current dates to backwards or from backward to current dates which will allow the audience to connect to your points.

This particular page is about various topics as well as guidance for the 10th class ICSE students preparing for examinations or competitions. We hope to give every small detail so that each child learns how to debate successfully.

Samples:

  • Internet literacy

With the motion

Point 1= Internet literacy is one such idea where students as well teachers can learn from the internet using various tools such as YouTube,Google etc to gain knowledge which is also replay able which means you can learn that same concept again and again as it is absolutely free and available all the time.

Point 2 = In the era of internet, why should we hassle about learning concepts from offline sources which cannot reproduce the same data all over again each time. Every time a teacher’s teaches , there is an existence of minute changes but when we learn from internet we learn the same things so the definition as well as concept remains same.

Point 3 = In my opinion internet literally is a very good opportunity for all the upcoming generation as all the knowledge is available at one tap on your mobile phones. No need of commuting from home to classes and waste time. You can learn from solving basic mathematics concepts to aeronautics on one click .

I conclude my debate here and support the idea of internet literacy.

Against the motion

Point 1= Internet literacy is a very good opportunity I agree , but can we all remember our past where Rishi munis used to teach orally and all the students learned those things so fast. I also agree that with one click we can access to all the information, but no mobile phones or no laptops can take the place of a teacher. Our culture has told us that teachers are kept above god’s too.

Point 2 = By various studies conducted by colleges and universities , it has been concluded that a student learns better in offline classes as compared to online and thus more students prefer studying in front of a teacher rather than infront of a laptop or mobile. I strongly believe that no online class can make a student learn better than an offline class as it keeps an eye on the student all the time and helps monitor their studies.

Point 3 = In my opinion, internet literacy is not a very good idea as it will ruin the learning culture and effect the brains

Into tricking them that if nobody is watching us we can access the internet in wrong ways too and not study so nobody will know. Internet literacy has already ruined the brains in the Covid-19 period .

I hereby conclude my debate and vote against the idea of internet literacy.
