Women Empowerment and their Rights Essay :

Women empowerment refers to the way of promoting the self-esteem of women and their capacity to evaluate their own choices. Moreover, empowerment also reflects the right of a woman to influence social change for society and for themselves. Women empowerment is a rudimentary right of everywomaninthe world. One of the major global developments in the present world is the empowerment of women. The major revolution in feminism began in the late 1990s. Hence celebrating 8th May as International Women’s Day has gained momentum.
Importance of Women’s rights:
Women’s rights are considered to be as basic human rights as it was enshrined in the United Nations several years ago. It entails many rights ranging from the right to education and equal pay for equal work. Like any other rights,women’srightsare considered to be significant as it provides women opportunities to lead happy and prosperous life. Thus, it is essential that the rights of women shall be implemented everywhere.
As compared to the early decade women have achieved liberation in almost every sphere. They have achieved the right to education, equal pay benefits, right to work and the right to live a decent life. However, there is still a long way to explore and achieve. The rudimentary principle of the United Nations Charters states equal rights of men and women. Every woman shall be provided rights irrespective of their class and status. The Convention on the Political Rights of Women was adopted in 1953 with a view to provide political rights of women. Moreover, the Convention intends to eliminate discrimination and attain adequate equality. The political rights of women comprise the rights to vote, freedom of movement, and the right to contest in the elections. The economic discrimination of women may be in the form of disparities in the distribution of income and economic assets. Due to the cultural and social practices women are not allowed to enjoy economic rights. The economic inequalities b based on gender discrimination also varies from one country to another country. For instance, the United States report states that women are paid on an average basis. However, surveysstate that only 78 percent wone get actually of what a man is paid. In the present day, SDG, or the Sustainable Development Goals aims to focus on the importance of women’s rights. Goal 5 of SDG states gender-based rights. Moreover, it aimsto abolish gender discrimination suchas child marriage, female genital mutilation, having equal access to education, extend the economic activities of women, and ensure safety standardsfor them.
Conclusion:
The future of international women ‘s rights is at stake. Although several signs of progress have been made, still a lot of areas need improvement with regard to the empowerment of women. In order to support this, the administration of the United States proposed cuts on strict policies such as abortion. Moreover, the international fund for women is working to ensure safety, social, economic, and health standards for women everywhere in the world. Hence it is important to encourage women’s empowerment. A nation can only transform when women can get access to whatever a man can have.
