A Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) is a set of teaching and learning tools, which uses the computers and the internet as important bridge of the education process. They are in a way designed to enhance the learning experience of the student. Virtual Learning process has wiped out the traditional paper book system to a large extent, as all the subjects and study material content is stored online on database software system. This students to easily access the study notes or material on their finger tips. This concept is gaining high popularity and benefiting the students in many ways.

Limitations of E-learning or Virtual Learning.
Although e-learning or virtual learning has come a long way, the traditional method of classroomshas been a learning ground for major of the students since past years. The traditional method of teaching has always given the student more importance towards learning and socializing with his colleagues and interacting face to face with his teachers.The students are exposed to different competitive environments which play an important role in the building and shaping of an individual’s personality and his career growth. Schools and classrooms make the child learn the art of accepting failures and are able to work harder towards achieving better results. The teacher has always beea mentor, guide, and a friend to the students apart from the parents.
There is no way in which virtual learning be a substitute for teachers. Technology plays the supporting role, but it is the teacher who finally has to decide on the study material and the content to be thought to the students. These days many schools have initiated the smart classroom concept, wherein instead of a black board there will be a LED screen and the teachers is able to explain better with diagrams and contents already fed into the database. The teacher just has to use the click of a mouse to change the subject matter or image on these LED screen.
The students need to understand the fact that the online learning portal is only a substitute to the traditional teaching , as in the case, a system suddenly crashes or software or hardware breakdown, it is the teachers only who will come to their rescue. The Virtual learning cannot be a permanent method of leaning or teaching.
Technology must be available for all and the person using the technology must know first how to use it. In remote villages there exist shortage of technology and tech know how, this making virtual learning a difficult process. There also exist connectivity and network issues which again is a barrier to e-learning.
Creating virtual learning modules is a costly process and requires a team of educators, teachers, graphic designers and technical people.
