2) Read the paragraph under the heading ‘Need for Information to Fight Corruption’ and answer the following: Observe any of the government programmes and make a report of its implementation in your area.

In our area people who are below the poverty line are provided RS- 1000 per month for their expense on food and medical facilities by the Government. These Funds are given to the beneficiaries through the employs of local bodies.The local bodies select one place to hand over these funds so everyone should reach there in prescribed time or else they won’t  get the funds. There may 500 beneficiaries in that centre who have to stand in a line for hours together and sometimes for days also. What kind of system is it instead of removing the of helping the people its creating more problem. Why don’t the government send the expenses directly to their homes or to their accounts? We request the government and its officials to view this issue in humanitarian grounds.

 

3) Collect a few success stories with regard to Right To Information Act (RTI) from them newspapers and read them out in your class.

The news are

  • A 70 year old lady Sarasvati, lost her son Bheem in Delhi road accident. He was a traffic constable there so his wife was given his pension. Later she remarried some other person leaving Sarasvati orphan. Saraswati used this RTI Act to gain access to files regarding the pension and other benefits of her son.
  • Priyanka of Kolkata bought a small piece of land and got it registered. But the clerk in the Sub Registrar Office did not hand over the documents to her for 11/2 years. She complained in the camp of RTI Act & got her documents within hours on the same day

 

4) RTE is a boon to children. Explain.

Answer

RTE is a boon to children because of the following reason:

  • It ensures that every child gets right to Equal & quality education.
  • It takes care of the education at free of cost which includes books, uniform etc.
  • As Education ensure all round development of the children.
  • It ensures that the children are taught their mother tongue so that they can express their views freely.
  • It ensures that quality teachers and teaching facilities are given to children.

If by any case Children don’t get proper education they can complain to the courts against the authorities. So it is a boon to the children.

 

5) Do you need any more rights? Why?

Answer

No i don’t need any more rights because all my needs are being fulfilled and the implementation of more rights means more responsibility so first we need to implement the current rights properly and protect it properly.

 

6) What information would you ask your Headmaster according to Right to Information Act?

Answer

The information i would ask are

  • How much educated are the teachers teaching us?
  • Does the school provide books, uniform &etc?
  • Strength of the school?
  • Does the school have a library and a playground?
  • Are there any safety incase of emergency?
  • Does the school provide equal education for everyone?
  • The subject and syllabus to be taught?

 

7) How can you say that the Right to Information Act helps to face the corruption?

Answer

Right to Information laws grant citizens the legal right to access information held by their governments which brings much-needed transparency in the functioning of government. The transparency will automatically limit the increase of corruption , and thus acts as the check on corruption in any department. The law is increasingly being used to tackle high profile corruption so I can say that the Right to Information Act helps to face corruption.
