Telanagana SCERT Solution Class VII (7) Social Studies Chapter 4 Oceans and Fishing.

(1) Does Bhavanapadu look like the place you live in? What differences and similarities can you think of? Compare them in the following aspects.

Ans: – Bhavanapadu is a fishing village. The main livelihood of the people here is fishing. The location of this village is in the coast of Andhrapradesh.

The main livelihood of the people here is fishing. They work hard to survive. They get up very first and get ready for the sea. Some of them are so poor that they can’t afford the equipment needed to catch fish.

Some people make a living by selling fish. In addition to fishing farms work on the land, grain productions work on the land and ever housewives work in salt pan in the hope of earning a living as well as managing the house hold. Storing fishes is also a business in this area. Later the fish came to Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, and Hyderabad

Being surrounded by the sea the surrounding are full of salt water the people here have to suffer lot for drinking water level dries up in summer. Sometimes they have to wait for hours to fill their water containers. They have to travel up to two kilometres in search of water.

On the other hand, the environment where I live is completely different. After all most of the people there are employs we don’t have to work hard to survive. The people have do not do farming on fishing. As the water level is close to the ground, water supply is easily available here.

(2) How many types of ocean movements are there? Which of them is useful to this fisher men?

Ans: – Ocean waters have three kinds of movement – they are

(1) waves

(2) Currents

(3) Tides

Tides are great help for fishing

(3) What is the difference between fishing with mechanical boats and with Karrateppa?

Ans: – Karrateppa is a country made boat which goes up to 5 km into the sea and brings small catch of fish. This fish can be taken by the wives of the fisherman known as Berakatthela. They sell this fish in nearby towns like naupada, Tekkali, Pandi and Palasa.

Compared to the Karrateppa there is far more risk of life in mechanised boat which called Marapadava. Because it goes far into sea and it is difficult to swim over to the share in times of trouble. Apart from that, there is no first aid available in the big boats, or any life jackets, fishing is risky and brave occupation.

(4) Write the process of getting a mechanical boat ready for fishing?

Ans: – The process of getting a mechanical boats ready for fishing

Before launching into the sea at first check the engine, the rope pullar, the additional stock of diesel, food, package store. And obviously there must e a proper licence.

(5) What does the tool kits fisherman contains?

Ans: – Net repairing fork, flattened stick, different sige of net vings, life jackets, knife pillars and many other tool kits fisherman contains.

(6) What are the similarities that you find between the surface of the earth and the bottom of the sea?

Ans: – There are many similarities between the surface of the earth and the bottom of the sea.

The floor of the ocean is just like the surface of the earth. The bottom of the sea is not a flat surface. It consists of kills, mountains, plateaus, plains, trenches etc.

(9) What solutions can you suggest to the fisherman so that they do not have to depend on the middle man money?

Ans: – In my opinion the government should take the first step in this regard.

The government can supply all the fishing equipment for the poor fisher man, and some cash loan from fisher man can alleviate their viability through landing.

(10) Explain the availability of water resources on earth?

Ans: – Water cavers 71% earth surface in the terms of ponds, Steam Sea and river. However 97% of earth surface is saline water Remaining 3% of the total water present on earths. Surface is fresh water 2/3 of which is reason in glacier and polar ice cabs. Only 0.006% of all the water present on earth is available for consumption.

(11) How do you support the statement ‘The life up fisherman is heed up with seas’?

Ans: – Fisherman means their lives will be associated with fish and the sea. The fish are aquatic animal so they have to go to the sea to catch fish. They spend most of the time of a day on boats at sea. Boats floating or the sea are the equivalent of their second home.

Ans: – The Sea plays an important vote in our daily lives. Various types of sea and sea foods are supplied from the sea. Many people’s lives and livelihoods are involved with the sea.
