(1.) How is the “trabeate” principle of architecture different from “arcuate”?

Ans. There are different between “trabeate” and “arcuate” –

In “trabeate” architecture roofs, doors and windows were made by horizontal beam across two vertical columns, and another side the weight of the superstructure above the doors and windows was sometimes carried by arches. The roof too used this principle and was converted into vaults and domes is “arcuate”.

(2.) What is a shikhara?

Ans. According to Hindus, the high peak of a temple is called shikhara.

(3) What are the elements of a Mughal chahar bagh garden?

Ans. The Mughal chahar bagh placed within rectangular walled enclosures and divided into four quarters by artificial channels. These gardens were called chahar bagh because of their symmetrical division into 4-quarters.

(4.) How did a temple communicate the importance of a king?

ans. A temple play a important role of a king. At that time used to show his influence power, wealth through the construction of temples. The paintings on the walls of the temple match the picture of the society of that time. The date of construction on the walls of some of the temples is known to indicate the period of which king.

(7) Visit and describe any park or garden in your neighbourhood. In what ways is it similar to or different from the gardens of the Mughals?

ans. In Mughal reigns garden are planned within rectangular walled enclosures and divided into four quarters by artificial channels. But the current parks are not like that. In present time there are not like that as previous. There is no division between the park. There are many fun activities for children in the park. The park has sitting and drinking water facilities.
