( 1 ) Why do you think the earliest people not wear cotton and woollen clothes?
The clothes wore by the earliest people was mostly comprised of grass, skin of the animals and tree barks. Neither cotton nor woollen clothes was protective enough to safeguard their bodies from various types of elements. This was the sole reason which did not permit them to wear clothes that was made up of cotton or wool. Furthermore, it was important to note that without the aid of leaves it was difficult to wear a toga. Therefore, it represents distinct human features and also portrays transformation in the field of environmental aspects.
( 2 ) What tools would you use today for cutting fruits? What would you do if these tools were not available ?
In present times, knives are considered as one of the most perfect tool for cutting fruits. Iron and steel are the main components that are used for making knives. Knife is mainly used for the purpose of chopping various fruits and vegetables. The cutting becomes extremely easy due its sharp edges. If these tools were not available then we have to invent such tools which possess sharp edges. These tools should be composed with the help of rocks or we have to fetch knowledgefrom those earliest people who used different kind of tools for the purpose of hunting and several other activities.
( 3 ) Compare the tools used by earliest people with those of modern times.
Stone was the ideal tool that was used by the people of earliest times. The blades were sharpen to such an extent so that it could be used as the bone tools. The work that was executed by using these tools was not very fast in comparison to the tools that are used in the modern times. In the course of time, there was a shift in the use of tools. Earlier people used stones as their ideal tool but in present times people use metals as their modern tool or equipment. When the use of metal was taken into consideration, then it brought about a revolutionary impact on humankind. Nowadays, there are numerous modern equipment’s that are used by the people of present times.
( 4 ) Why did the earliest people travel from place to place ? In what ways are they similar to / different from the reasons for our travel today ?
As hunters and gathers were nomads , for this reason they did not possessed any permanent settlement. As a result of which , they had to travel from one place to another place in order to search food and several other purposes. When the supply of food in one particular location exhausted, then they had to move to another new place. As these earliest people had to manage their livelihood by hunting animals, due to this reason they also had to move to another place by following the animals. Owing to these reasons, earliest people had to relocate from time to time. In contrast to this, people in the modern times travel for several differentreasons. They travel to different place for the purpose of attaining their education, some people travel for the purpose of occupations or business. In present times, people travel to spend vacationsor holidays and also for various recreational activities.
( 6 ) List three ways in which the lives of farmers and herders in present day are different from that of the Neolithic people ?
Neolithic people never settled in one particular place, which means they had to relocate themselves from time to time whereas, farmers did not travel from one place to another place but rather, they resided in only one particular place . As a result of which , they got the opportunity to look after their crops . Meat was the sole source of consumption for the Neolithic people but in case of farmers , crops and plants were used for the purpose of consumption. As , Neolithic people need to relocate , for this reason they did not possessed any permanent settlement but farmers resided in huts that were composed of wood and mud. So, from this point we can infer that they led a settled life.
( 7 ) Prepare a list of domesticated animals and agricultural products of the earliest people and write a few lines about each of them .
Dog, cow , goat and buffalo , are for instance some of the domesticated animals of the earliest people.
Explanation:
Dog – Dogs not only served as a trustful companion but they also rendered help at the time of hunting.
Cow and goat – Milk and milk products was provided by goats and cows. As milk is a rich source of calcium content, for this reason it is necessary for the proper growth and development of the body.
Buffalo –Buffalo milk are primarily used for obtaining milk , as it has rich source of calcium and mineral content than the cow’s milk.
Paddy and wheat were some of the agricultural products that were grown by the earliest people.
( 8 ) If there was no stove and no grinding stone, how would it affect our food ?
In such case, we will use those stone items that was used by our ancestors for the purpose of preparing food. So, it would not bring any kind of impact on our health if such equipment’s like stove and grinding stone were not available. The food that was prepared in such natural stone items proves to be quite useful for our health. Therefore, it would not have any kind of detrimental affect on our health. It is quite effective to consume foods that are prepared in those natural stone items in comparison to the food that are prepared by using the electrical gadgets.

- What is the significant role of symbols in archaeology.
- Who was considered as the very first Indian archeologist?
- What are the several ways that they adopt for the purpose of collecting data?
- What are the various ways that they use in order to identify the epoch of any particular finding?
- What are the essential roles of archaeology?
So , these are the five basic questions that I would like to ask to an archaeologist.
( 10 ) There are many things in the picture given below. Which of them did not belong to the hunter – gathers? Which things belong to both the hunter – gathers and the farmers? Put different signs to distinguish them.
Pots or basket that was shown in the picture was not used by the hunter and gathers because they were not food producers but rather they were considered as food gathers, just as the name suggests. Basket was not an essential item for them because it was mainly required for storing grains. Basket acts as a necessary item for thefarmers because they have to store ample amount of food cropsin it . Bow and arrow act as an essential tool for the hunters and gatherers because they uses bow and arrow for the purpose of hunting . Sickle on the other hand , was a necessary tool for the farmers because they require sickle for the purpose of harvesting.
( 11 ) How can you say that the lives of earliest people became easier by domesticating animals?
In order to manage their livelihood , the earliest people relied on the process of domestication. In several ways, domestication of animals proves to be quite beneficial for human beings. As for instance, milk and milk products was provided by goats and cows. As milk contains rich source calcium content , for this reason it is extremely essential to make the bones strong and healthy. Sheep plays an important role in providing wool , with the help of which several woollen clothes were made. Large sized animals were also used for the purpose of ploughing field or for transporting several different items. Dogs not only served as a trustful companion but they also rendered help at the time of hunting.

The earliest people led their life like the ‘Nomads’, which means they travelled from one place to another place on a regular basis. As they were nomads , for that reason they did not have any permanent settlement. They usually resided in small groups and managed their living under any caves or trees. Therefore, we could infer that , as they were required to relocate themselves from time to time ,for this reason they failed to lead a settled life.
