(1) Compare water availability in the bore wells of the Krishna delta and plateaus.
Ans: – As Krishna delta is very near to river Krishna the ground water can be found at a depth of only 15 to 25 feet. Hence the expenditure on digging bore wells is very low.
But in plateaus the well are 40 to 60 feat deep but the wells have dried up. The water level in this region in very low so only a few bare wells are successful. Digging the bare wells is very expensive and also risky.
(2) Compare changes in cropping pattern of Dokur and Penamakuru.
Ans: – In penamakuru farmers now grows more cash crops instead of paddy. They mainly grow like banana and turmeric for sale in the market not for consumed in the village.
But the farmers in Dokun grow cotton, paddy, ground nuts, castor bajra etc. Earlier people would grow mainly millets as food crops. They grow paddy and ground water using bore wells. The farmers says that farmer yield from an acre of land is about to 30 quintals.
(3) Do you think agriculture can be profitable professions in places like Dokun?
Ans: – Agriculture can be a profitable profession if there is availability of water. But this region has less rainfall so they are depending on bare wells for growing crops. But here water level in too low. So, the farm employment is available only for six month small farmers and agricultural labourers are migrating to cities and towns in search of job. For all that reasons stable income from agriculture is unpredictable in this village.
(4) What difference would it make to the village if the rainfall in the regionious increased?
Ans: – If the rainfall is increased in the region the farmers or agricultural labourers grow more crops which from they earn money. If the stable income will come from this occupation when they have not any need to migrate to the other cities for searching jobs.
(5) What non agriculture occupations are there is your village? Get details about are such occupation.
Ans: – Here the non – agricultural occupations are carpentry, metal work and rice milling etc.
Carpentry is one of the non agricultural professions. There are very few families who do the wood work. They prepare doors, windows and roof sheets for the construction of resources. Now days they use electric machine for the most work are carpenter for also says that he earn about Rs. 3000 per month.
