(b) 24/9/2010 –Twenty fourth September Two Thousand ten.
(c) 5/2/1999 – Fifth February nineteen nine.

(c) 25 December 2014 –25/12/2014
3.) Whether these dates are possible? Why?
(a) 33/ 3/2010
(b) 30/ 13/2010
Answer – These days are not possible. Because number (a) is showing 33/03/2010, it’s showing 33 days in the 3rd month of year, March. While March is 31 days. Not only March but also every month of the year has either 30 days or 31 days, except February which has 28 days and 29 days on leap year.
Number (b) shows 13 months, but we only have 12 months so it is not possible.
4.) Padmapriya wanted to purchase some packed food on 22nd February 2013. It is mentioned that food packet should be consumed within 180 days from manufacturing date. The date of manufacture on the food packet was31/8/2012. Whether Padmapriya purchases the food packet?
Answer –
The date of purchase is – 22nd February 2013 or we can say 22/02/2013.
Date of manufacture is –31/08/2012.
If the packet should be consumed in 180 days. If we convert it to months then (180÷30) = 6 months.
So, from according to manufacture date, 8th month of year or August, we add 6 months to it.
After 6 months the date will be = 22/02/2013
So Padmapriya can purchase the food packet.
5.) Farhana purchased some medicines on 20/06/2012. The medicine should be consumed within 3 years of manufacture. The date of manufacture on the medicine pack was 31/12/2009. Whether the medicines purchased were valid or not?
Answer –
The date of manufacture is = 31/12/2009.
So, if it should be consumed within 3 years, we have to add 3 years to that exact date to know the expiry date.
31/12/(2009+3) = 31/12/2012.
So, she purchased on = 20/06/2012.
If we deduct the purchased year from the expiry date, we should know if the medicine is valid or not.
Days |
Months | Year |
31 | 12 |
2012 |
– 20 |
06 | 2012 |
11 | 6 |
0 |
Still 6 months and 11 days remaining for the medicine to expire.
The medicine is valid.
