Answer the following questions.
1.) What did the tiger think the mysterious creature was? Why did he allow himself bound around the neck with a thick rope?
Answer: The tiger heard a voice of a woman who felt that a leak is more dangerous than a tiger. The tiger wonder what a leak was and was it so dangerous than him. Then he was awakened by an angry voice of a man, it was there the tiger thought that the mysterious creature was the leak. The voice angrily told the tiger to obey him else he would kill it. It is then the tiger got scared at the thought of its death and allowed himself bound around the neck with a thick rope.
2.) What made the potter angry?
Answer: The potter went home tired and drank palm-wine. When the storm began he suddenly remembered that he had left his donkey tied under a tree. He went to see the donkey and take it into the stable. But he discovers that there was no donkey, this made the potter so angry that he walked through the wet forest. With each step, his anger grew
3.) Why did the king make the potter the General of the army?
Answer: A war broke out between the potter’s country and a stronger neighbor. It was then, the king gathered a large army. But he realized that it was not strong enough to save his country from defeat. He needed a hero to lead his army. The king hurriedly called his ministers together and asked their advice. Then one minister told the king about the brave story of the potter who had caught the tiger with his bare hands. The king then sent a messenger to the potter’s house. Next day, the potter went with his wife to meet king, the king became happy after meeting the potter and ordered him to lead the army.
4.) Why do you think the sentry feels that the potter is a giant?
Answer: The horse on which the potter was on, galloped. It didn’t stop anywhere. When they passed a young tree, the potter grabbed a branch. But the horse did not stop. Instead the tree was pulled out of the ground. A sentry from the enemy camp saw the potter galloping towards the camp with a tree in one hand and his reins in the other. After seeing this, the sentry got scared and ran away.
5.) Do you think that the potter is really brave or lucky? Give your reasons.
Answer: The potter is just lucky. In the first incident, he was out to search his donkey, but he could not distinguish between donkey and a tiger. In his rage, he sits on the tiger and ties it to the tree. This makes the potter famous for his ‘bravery’ which was just a stroke of luck and nothing else. In the second incident, where he was declared as the general of the army, he gets scared. When he jumps on the horse and sits, the horse gallops and does not stop anywhere. When they passed through the tree, the potter grabs a branch. Even the horse does not stop there and in that the potter tries to grab a branch, but instead he pulls out the tree out of the ground. This scene makes the sentry get scared and run away. He warns everyone to be safe and run. Even the enemy king gives in and writes a letter declaring his defeat. After this, the king gives him so much wealth that he never has to work further.
6.) What is the most humorous and thrilling incident in the story? Write the incident and say why it is humorous and thrilling.
Answer: When the potter was drunk, he could not distinguish between a donkey and a tiger. He sat on the tiger angrily and binds the thick rope around it. He then ties it to the tree. He was unable to distinguish between donkey and tiger and that led to complete story. He didn’t do anything intentionally but everything happened just like that and he got lucky. Another incident where the horse gallops he wanted to stop it. But in attempt to save himself he grabs the tree but ends up pulling the tree. These incidents are funny.
