1.) What do you understand from the picture?
Answer:A mouse rat has pointed gun to a cat. May be the rat is trying to scare the cat.
2.) Can you recall anything comic associated with these animals?
Answer:I can recall American animated series named Tom and Jerry from the above picture. It was all about a cat chasing a mouse and its funny scenes.

Answer the following questions.
1.) What qualities of Mrs. Slater have you noticed?
Answer: Mrs. Slater is a greedy and selfish woman. She is least bothered about her father’s death. She takes much interest in the things of her father like his bureau and clock. She even hides it from her sister. This shows that she is greedy. She does not care about her sister and just wants to take her father’s things to herself.
2.) Why does Mrs. Slater decide to shift the bureau from her father’s room before the arrival of the Jordans? How does Henry react to the suggestion?
Answer: Mrs. Slater wants the bureau of her father so she decides to keep that to herself. But she is afraid that her sister might want that as well. Since Mrs.Slater is greedy and does not want her sister to know about it, she decides to shift the bureau from her father’s room. When Mrs.Slater tell her about this decision to Henry, he is shocked as he want the things between two sisters to be sorted in a good way. And he is also afraid that if Elizabeth comes when they are shifting the bureau, what would happen.
3.) Why do the Jordans take a long time to get to the house of the Slaters? What does it show about the two sisters’ attitude towards each other?
Answer: The Jordans might have taken a long time to get dress up for the mourning. When they reach at the Slaters’ house, the conversation between the two sisters seems to be cold and not amiable. They both seem to be interested in their father’s things rather than his death.
4.) Ben appreciates his father-in-law saying, ‘It’s a good thing he did’. Later, he calls him a ‘drunken old beggar’. Why does he change his opinion about his father-in-law?
Answer: In the beginning Mrs.Slater tells that her father went out to pay his insurance on which Ben says that it is a good thing that he paid his insurance. But later, Victoria tells everyone that he didn’t go to pay his insurance but he went to meet Mr.Tattersall and that claims that he didn’t pay and it was overdue. It when then, Ben calls his father-in-law a drunken old beggar. Initially he appreciated his father-in-law for his action but when he came to know about his overdue he suddenly changed his opinion because he thinks that the old man had done it to annoy them.
5.) What made Mr.Henry feel shocked to hear Victoria saying ‘Are you planning to pinch it?’?
Answer: When Slater couple was discussing shifting the bureau, Victoria asks them if they were planning to pinch it. Henry was shocked when she asked the question because for a girl of 10 it was a mature question. She was an innocent girl but knew what is right and wrong at her age, which is very surprising.
