I.) Answer the following questions briefly.
1.) What is the aim of a bright student?
Answer: The aim of a bright student is to take admission in university/ institute of class apart that would make his/her educational status higher. Here the aim of a bright student is to study in the Indian Institute of Technology.
2.) ‘His heart sank in sorrow.’ Whose heart sank in sorrow? Why?
Answer: Narayan Murthy had passed the IIT’s entrance exam with high marks. He told that to his father on which his father said that he could not afford to send him to IIT. His father felt bad when he had to say no to his bright son. It was Murthy’s dream to be in IIT which was burned into ashes. He was so close to his dream but could not eventually get there, this is why his heart sank in sorrow.
3.) How did Murthy react when his father expressed his helplessness to send him to IIT?
Answer: When Murthy’s father told him that he could not afford to send him to IIT, Murthy felt shattered. His heart sank in sorrow because he had to give up his dream. But Murthy accepted the fact and understood it. He didn’t share his happiness or helplessness with anybody.
4.) The author calls Murthy an introvert. What action of Murhty substantiate this claim of the author about Murthy?
Answer: When Murthy’s father told that he could not afford his son to send him to IIT, then Murthy felt bad and kept quiet. He didn’t share his feelings with anyone, this shows that he was an introvert. Another incident is where he went to see his friends off to Madras, then he didn’t get involve much into their talk, but just wished them well in life.
5.) What, according to Narayana Murthy, can change the life of a person?
Answer: According to Naryana Murthy, it is not the institution that changes one’s life, but it is ultimately a person himself that changes his/her life. A person has power to change their life.
6.) How does the motto ‘Powered by intellect and driven by values’ describe Murthy’s life?
Answer: Murthy was no doubt an intelligent man from the very beginning but he was also a man with ethics. He worked hard in life. He focused on work. He never used the help of any caste, community or political connections to go or become successful in life. He didn’t care much about his personal life or his comforts. He shared his wealth with others. He is not only intelligent but also he possess values that makes him different from others.
7.) What message does the writer have for educated youth who reach at a high positions in the society by virtue of their education? Justify your view point with supporting evidence from the text ‘I Will Do It’.
Answer: Mruthy’s story inspiring for those who dreams high. The important message that the writer gives is that one can be successful without anyone’s help. One can go at high position with the help of his/her education, efforts and hard work. The message is powerful that inspires the youth to believe in themselves. In the learnt story, Murthy didn’t take help of anyone but he succeeded only on the basis of his intellectual and efforts.
