All the living organisms on earth are made from tiny cell. Every living organism from unicellular microscopic amoeba to large multicellular animals. Many of the times question in student’s mind that how single celled organism carry out all the activities. So students get their question’s answer in this chapter. The chapter involves all the cell organelles and their structure. So lets start with the chapter.
Structure of Cell
The preview of cell structure is important before understanding the cell organelles. Cell itself a one kind of system. Cell is the basic structural and functional unit of living organisms. According to the research every living organism have machinery that is cell, but exception to this statement is virus. Virus don’t have cellular structure and cell organelles. Cell is considered as structural unit, functional unit, reproductive unit and hereditary unit. On the basis of nucleus the cells are classified into two types such as prokaryotic cell and eukaryotic cell. The prokaryotic cells are the cells with primitive nucleus and no cell envelope. An eukaryotic cell is the cell having advance nucleus and all the cell organelles are present. All the living organism activities can be carried out in single cell due to the presence of all cell organelle. Every cell organelle have different function. An animal cell do not have a particular shape due to absence of cell wall. The cell wall is absent in case of animal cell but present in plant cells. The cell size is approximately 1 – 2 ꭒm. Inside the cell all the cell organelles are enclosed and performing a function to keep the cell healthy.
Figure 1: Structure of cell
As given in the diagram above, the cell structure contains various organelles such as nucleus, cytoplasm, Plasma membrane, Cell wall, Ribosome, Endoplasmic Reticulum, Mitochondria, Golgi apparatus, Lysosome. Lets discuss the functions of cell organelles in next point.
