Speed Formula
Distance:
Distance is the actual path travelled by an object in a motion while going from one point to another. Distance is scalar quantity.
Speed:
Speed is the rate of an object.
Speed is defined as the distance travelled by an object per unit time interval. It is scalar quantity. The SI unit of speed is M/S.
Speed = Distance travelled/time
If ‘d’ be the total distance travelled in time ‘t’ then the speed is written as,
Speed = d/t
e.g.
(i) Maid cleaning the room in 30 minutes.
(ii) Person travelled 180 kilometers in 2 hours.
Numerical on Speed Formula
A truck travelled 520 miles in 10 hours then calculate the speed.
Ans : Speed = Distance/time
= 520/10
Speed = 52 mph
