I.) Answer the following questions :
I.) Who do you think is the speaker in the poem?
The poem is written in the first person narrative , thus the speaker of the poem is the poet himself.
2.) What does he/she hear?
The poet all of a sudden hears a cry full of pain of a rabbit.
3.) What is the rabbit crying for?
The rabbit is crying due to the immense amount of pain it is suffering
4.) What makes the rabbit wrinkle its face?
The fear and the suspenseful atmosphere that had made it anxious was making the rabbit wrinkle its face with tension
5.) Is the poet able to locate the snare?
Unfortunately the poet isn’t able to locate the snare even though he has been searching for it.
6.) What do you understand by the expression, “the frightened air”?
It refers to the difficult and painful situation /position the rabbit was in , so much so that the atmosphere around him seemed fearful.
