He just felt a bit dizzy and then, he flapped his wings once and he soared upwards. He uttered a joyous scream and flapped them again.

Answer: No, the young seagull’s parents were not harsh to him. They wanted to make him independent and learn to fly. They just pretended to be harsh but all they wanted was to make him strong.

Answer: When he saw piece of fish it made him mad to have it. It wanted to have it so badly that he dived at the fish and finally learnt to fly.
(7) What happened to the young seagull when it landed on the green sea?
Answer: His first flight made him forgetthat he had not always been able to fly, and commenced to dive and soar, shrieking shrilly.

(1) Describe the struggles underwent by the young seagull to overcome its fear of flying.
Answer: The young seagull was afraid of flying. His brothers and sister flew and wanted him to do the same. Even his parents encouraged him but he didn’t get enough confidence. Then the scolded him and decided not to give him food. He searched for food and when he saw piece of fish in the beak of his mother he begged for it. But his mother didn’t give him and this is where he spread his wings and dived at the fish. He screamed and flew. He was scared but the next moment he flapped his wings and soared upwards. His act of flying made him happy and even his family cheered him and joined in with him. The young seagull’s fear was vanished when he took his first flight and became confident.
(2) Your parents sometimes behave like the young bird’s parents. They may seem cruel and unrelenting. Does it mean that they do not care for you? Explain your views about it with reference from the story.
Answer: Sometimes parents have to be rude to make their children strong. They pretend that they don’t care but their heart is full of care and love for their children. Sometimes they act like coconut which is hard from outside and soft inside. In the story the parents motivated the young seagull but he didn’t listen to them and this is where the family had to take strong step of not giving him food and teaching him lesson of life. Parents have to do hard things in order to make their children prepare for their future.
