Answer:Sustainable development growth has been set to protect the planet, because by implementing sustainable development goals we can achieve sustainable development in elements like economic, social and environmental. Hence it is necessary to set goals to protect the planet.

e.g. food gathering, hunting, lumbering, fishing, mining, agriculture etc. e.g. automobile manufacturing, iron and steel industries etc.

1.) Explain the factors affecting the distribution of population.

Answer: Distribution of population means the way people spread out across the surface of the earth. Following factors affect the distribution of the population.

i) Physical Factor: Temperature, rainfall, soil, relief, water, natural vegetation, availability of energy resources and distribution of minerals are considered as physical factors.

ii) Historical Factors: The place or the region hold historical importance like river valley civilizations, war and constant invasions then these factors also responsible for distribution of population.

iii) Economic Factor: The region have educational institutions, employment opportunities, manufacturing industries, luxurious amenities, trade and commerce and other facilities also cause to increase density of the population in the area.

2.) Describe the patterns of rural settlement with neat diagrams.

Answer: Pattern of Rural settlements

i) Rectangular Pattern: This pattern found in plain areas or valleys. Roads are cut in rectangular and cut at right angle.

ii) Linear pattern: The houses are set with the road, railway line and along the edge of the river valley or along a levee.

iii) Circular or semi-circle patter: This type of pattern can be seen near lakes, ponds and sea.

iv) Star Like pattern: The settlement of the houses is like star shape hence it knows at star like pattern.

v) Triangular pattern: This type of patterns develops at the confluence of the rivers.

vi) T-shaped, Y-shaped, Cross-shaped or Cruciform settlements: T-shaped settlements can be seen at tri-junctions of the roads, Y-shaped settlements emerge as the places where two roads converge with third one. Cruciform settlements develop on the cross-roads which extend in all four directions.
