Answer: I think development means betterment, growth or progress in different field like economic development, livelihood development etc but as well as betterment in natural resources too like betterment in overall natural aspects like water resources, pollution etc. Development term changes with time, with person; concept of development could be different for different person.

2.) What are the indicators of development?

Answer: Net National Product (NNP), Per Capita Income (PCI), Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) and Human Development Index (HDI) are some of the indicators of development.

3.) Why NNP is not considered as an useful measure to compare a country’s development with other countries?

Answer: NNP is most important factor while measuring country’s development but when it comes to comparing with other countries NNP is not enough hence NNP is not considered as an useful measure to compare a country’s development with other countries.

Answer: Human resource is very important for the progress of country. Human resource means the collective abilities of people, which can be utilised in the production sector.

Answer: To fulfil the power requirements India is depends on thermal and hydro power plants. Hydro power plants and thermal power plants both having adverse environmental impact. Thermal power plant emitting large amount of carbon dioxide in the air and causing environmental pollution. Hence Solar power can be useful. Solar Panels absorb the sunlight as a source of energy to generate electricity. Solar electric systems are reliable and good for home and offices. Tamil Nadu is the state with highest installed solar capacity in India.

2.) Describe in detail about environmental policies in India.

Answer: Environmental policies are evolving in India from past three decades. These policies covered many issues like air pollution, water pollution, waste management and biodiversity conservation. In economic development India is facing challenges. Economic development needs to achieve with limited resources minimum externalities and in the presence of uncertain climate. Through sustainable development it is possible to overcome this challenge.

3.) Differentiate between renewable and non-renewable resources.

Answer:

Renewable Resources Non-renewable Resources
Renewable resources are replenishable resource mean these resources are environment friendly. Non-renewable Resources are non-replenishable resource means these resources can pollute and damage the environment.
These resources take short time for renewal. These resources take million of years to form.
Example: Solar energy, wind energy, water etc. Example Metals, glass, fossil fuels (coal, petroleum, natural gas etc.)
