1.) Unitary form of government
Answer: Unitary form of government means a sovereign state governed as a single entity. The central government considered supreme and the administrative divisions exercise only power that the central government has assigned to them. When all the authority and power with the single centre in federal form of government the authority and power is divided between the centre and the constitution units. Even though in unitary system the power is accumulated, there could be a lot of decentralisations of authority but still it cannot consider as federal system.

Answer: There are two types of constitution i) Written constitution/Un written constitution ii) Flexible/Rigid constitution. Apart from it there are many types of government as follows.
i) Unitary Form of Government: In this form of government the single entity runs government.
ii) Federal form of government: In this form of government the power is divided between the national government and the regional governments by the Constitution itself.
iii) Parliamentary form of government: In this system of government, the government executives are responsible for government.
iv) Presidential form of government: In this form of the government the president is the head of the state.
2.) What are the merits of a federal government?
Answer: Merits of the federal government is as follow
i) Reconciliation of local autonomy with national unity.
ii) Division of power between centre and states leads to administrative efficiency.
iii) Federal government gives rise to big states.
iv) Distribution of powers check the despotism of central government.
v) Federal government is more suitable for bigger countries
vi) Federal government is good for economic and cultural progress
3.) Write down the differences between unitary form of government and federal form of government.
Answer: In Unitary form of government all the authority and power provided to one centre in other hand in federal form of government authority and power is distributed among the centre and the constituent units. I unitary system a citizen can have only single citizenship whereas in federal form of government a citizen can have dual citizenship. Sub units in unitary form cannot operate independently but in federal system units are answerable to central government.

Answer: Merits of Unitary form of government is as below
i) Unitary form of government is suitable for small countries.
ii) There is no conflict of authority and responsibility.
iii) A unitary government will make prompt decisions and take speedy action.
iv) A unitary government is less expensive.
v) Amendments to the constitution are easy.
vi) There is unity, uniformity of law, policy and administration.
2.) Write about the presidential form of government and what is the difference between presidential and parliamentary forms of government.
Answer: The presidential form of government is also known as non-parliamentary system of government or fixed executive system of government. This government is based on the principle of separation of power. The main difference between presidential form of government and parliamentary form of government is the people directly elect president in presidential form and in parliamentary form the majority party choose Prime Minister. In Presidential form the president is supreme and in parliamentary form Central Legislature is supreme. Presidential form has separation of powers and independent branches whereas parliamentary form has no separation of power and the branches are independent with overlapping functions. In presidential system the leadership is individual and the president is not accountable to congress whereas in parliamentary for of government the leadership is collective and the responsibility is also collective and individual.
