1.) What is the source of electricity? Explain the various power stations in India?
Answer: Source of electricity refers to any device that produce electricity. Different sources of electricity are:
- Thermal power station- In this power station, by burning coal, diesel or gas, thermal energy is generated to produce steam. The amount of steam then help the Turbine to rotate. Further, the coil of wire that is kept between the electromagnet also starts rotating. Here Electricity is produced due to Electromagnetic induction. In this process heat energy gets converted into electrical energy.
- Hydel power station- Here, the flow of water from dam make the Turbine rotate, thereby producing electricity. In this process kinetic energy is converted into electrical energy.
- Atomic Power station- using nuclear power, steam is produced which helps in rotating the turbine. As a result Electricity is produced.
- Windmill- Here, kinetic energy gets converted into electrical energy. For rotating the turbine wind energy is used, thereby producing electricity.

Answer: Conductor refers to materials or objects that allow electric current to pass through them thereby producing electricity. For example copper, aluminium, iron, impure water, earth etc.
Insulators refers to materials or objects that does not allow Electric current to pass through them. Thus Electricity can not be produced using these materials. For example – rubber, plastic, book, glass etc.

1.) Rahul wants to make an electric circuit. He has a bulb, two wires, a safety Pin and a piece of copper. He does Not have any electric cell or battery. Suddenly he gets some idea. He uses A lemon instead of a battery and makes A circuit. Will the bulb glow?
Answer: Yes , the bulb will glow.
Lemon juice contain citric acid which helps in producing electricity. By squeezing the lemon a bit , we can obtain the juice needed to make a battery work. Now using the safety pin make holes on opposite sides of lemon and pass the copper wire from one end to other. Next , connect one end of the copper wire with a bulb and another with the safety pin. The lemon will now produce a small amount of Electricity and the bulb will glow.
