Solution: Average of greatest speed,
(9.00 + 4.50 + 0.04 + 10.00 + 15.70 + 0.45 + 15.70) ÷ 7
= 55.39 ÷ 7
= 7.91 meters per second
Average of maximum age,
(115 + 77 + 150 + 21 + 50 + 3 + 20) ÷ 7
= 436 ÷ 7
= 62.29 years
Average weight, = (68.00 + 2740.00 + 136.00 + 2.30 + 408.00 + 0.02 + 9.10) ÷ 7
= 3363.42 ÷ 7
= 480.49 kg
Average heart beats = (70 + 40 + 10 + 200 + 45 + 620 + 100) ÷ 7
= 1085 ÷ 7
= 155 beat per minute

(5) The marks of 20 students of a class in a mathematics test are given below:
(a) Find the average marks of a student of the class.
Solution: The average of a student of the class,
(48+50+37+49+28+17+13+39+41+45+50+9+19+43+48+47+29+25+18+20) ÷ 20
= 675 ÷ 20
= 33.75
(b) How many students scored marks more than the average marks?
Solution: 11 students are scored more than 33.75
(c) How many students scored marks less than the average marks?
Solution: 9 students scored marks less than 33.75.
(d) How many students scored marks equal to the average marks?
Solution: No one scored marks equal to the average marks.
(6) What is a batsman’s average when he has made 0, 17, 29, 73, 187, 34, 38, runs.
(a) If all the innings are completed
Solution: Total runs ÷ 7 = (17+29+73+187+34+38) ÷ 7 = 378 ÷ 7 = 54
(b) If he was once not out.
Solution: Total runs ÷ 6 = (17+29+73+187+34+38) ÷ 6 = 378 ÷ 6 = 63
