(3) Aditya buys 2 markers for Rs. 28.65 each, 3 pens for Rs. 9.85 each and 5 sketch-pens for Rs. 4.75 each. If he has Rs. 100 with him, how much money is he still short of?
Solution: 2 markers for Rs. 28.65 each = 2 x 28.65 = 57.3.
3 pens for Rs. 9.85 each = 3 x 9.85 = 29.55.
5 sketch-pens for Rs. 4.75 each = 5 x 4.75 = 23.75.
Total expenditure = (57.3 + 29.55 + 23.75) = 110.6
But, Aditya’s have Rs. 100.
Therefore, (110.6 – 100) = 10.6 is he still short of.
(4) 1 kg of milk has 0.264 kg of fat. How much fat is there in 12.5 kg of milk.

Therefore, (12.5 x 0.264) = 3.3 kg of fat is there in 12.5 kg of milk.
(5) A car goes 14.85 km in a litre of petrol. Vishesh has 8.4 litre petrol in his car. How many can he drives his car?
Solution: A car goes 14.85 km in a litre of petrol.
Vishesh has 8.4 litre petrol in his car.
Therefore, he can drive = 8.4 x 14.85 = 124.74.
(6) Anant weighs 46.96 kg. His father’s weight is 1.75 times his weight. Calculate his fathers weight.
Solution: Anant weighs 46.96 kg.
His father’s weight is 1.75 times his weight.
Therefore, his father weight is = 46.96 x 1.75 = 82.18.
(7) The monthly salary of Mr Bose is Rs. 8164.50 and his monthly expenditure is Rs. 3796.75. How much does he save in 1 year.
Solution: Total salary in 1 year = 8164.50 x 12 = 97974.
And his total monthly expenditure in 1 year = 3796.75 x 12 = 45561.
Therefore, he save in 1 year = (97974 – 45561) = 52413.
