(1) Find the perimeter of a rectangle with length 5 cm 8 mm and breadth 4 cm 2 mm.

Solution: Here, 5 cm 8 mm = (50 + 8) mm = 58 mm

And, 4 cm 2 mm = (40 + 2) mm = 42 mm

Perimeter of the rectangle = 2 × (58 + 42) mm

= 2 × 100 mm = 200 mm = 20 cm

(2) Find the perimeter of a square each of whose sides is 26 cm long.

Solution: Perimeter of the square = (4 × 26) cm = 104 cm = 1 m 4 cm

(3) The perimeter of a rectangle is 46 cm. The length of the rectangle is 13 cm. What is its breadth?

Solution: Let the breadth be a cm.

∴ 2 (13 + a) = 46

⇒ 26 + 2a = 46

⇒ 2a = 46 – 26

⇒ a = 20/2=10

Therefore, the breadth is 10 cm.

(4) What is the length of the side of a square whose perimeter is 48 cm?

Solution: Let the length of the side be x cm.

∴ 4x = 48

⇒ x = 48/4=12

Hence, the length of the square is 12 cm.
