Define: Radium is alkaline earth metal . Place at 6th number in alkaline metal series. It is radioactive element  which is shiny ,toxic and soft in nature. It is found as by product in uranium  mineral refining

Discovery : it is discovered in 1898 by scientist Pierre and Marie Curie

Origin of name : the name is derived from Latin word ‘ radius ‘ meaning of this word is ray
