PSEB Punjab Board Class 8 Computer Science Textbook Solution Chapter 7 Generation of Computers Exercise Questions and Answers
2. Write the Full Form :-
1) ENIAC : Electrical Numerical Integrator and Computer
2) IBM : International Business Machine
3) IC : Integrated Circuits
4) VLSI : Very Large Scale Integrated
5) ULSI : Ultra Large Scale Integration
6) AI : Artificial Intelligence
3. Very Short Answer Type Questions :-
1) Write the main features of First Generation computers.
Ans :- The main features of First Generation of Computers are as follows :-
i) The first generation of computers started with ENIAC which was then followed by IBM
UNIVAC I
(Universal Automatic Computers) which was built by Mauchly and Eckert in 1951.
ii) The first generation of computers used vaccum tubes and punched cards.
iii) These generation computers were very big in size
iv) These computers were very slow in processing/performing input/output.
v) As the first generation of computers very big in size they consumed a lot of energy .
2) Which technology was used for Second Generation of Computers ?
Ans :- The technology of Transistors, magnetic cores (as main memory) and Magnetic tapes/disks (as secondary storage) were used for Second Generation of Computers.
3) What is IC ?
Ans :- IC stands for Integrated Circuits. There are many registers, transistors, and capacitors along with the ciruits attached in a single integrated chip. IC was invented by Jack Kilby.
4) Write about Fourth Generation of Computers
Ans :- Programming language is regarded as fourth generation language which were
designed to quickly develop applications/programs by specifying what to do instead of how to do. SQL (Structured Query Language) can be the example of fourth generation language.
5) What is AI? Write the areas which are included in AI.
Ans :- AI is the growing branch in the world of computer technology. This technology helps to perform /make computers thinks like human beings. AI is included in the areas of Robotics, Game Playing, Development of Expert systems to make decisions in real life, understanding and speaking of natural languages etc.
6) Write the examples of First Generation of Computers.
Ans :- The examples of Fifth Generation of Computers are C, C++, Java, .Net.
4. Long Answer Type Questions :-
1) What do you mean by Generation of Computers? How are they classified?
Ans :- Generation of computers means new/latest developments in the technology of the computers. Its in relation to the hardware of computers. Latest advanced developments in the technology as compared to the technology of previous generation.
2) Explain Fifth Generation of Computers
Ans :- Fifth generation computers are totally based upon artificial intelligence (AI). AI is the growing branch in the world of computer technology. This technology helps to perform /make computers as per the thinking of human beings. Ex. Translator- which helps to convert the data from one language to the other. In the parallel processing, many processors are been grouped together to form into one large
group processor. A super conductor is a conductor through which electricity can travel without any resistance/problem resulting faster transfer of information between the parts of a computer. Fifth generation computers are still in development process mode, though there are some applications, such as voice recognition, translator: programs that could translated documents from language to other.
Dear Student, I appreciate your efforts and hard work that you all had put in. Thank you for being concerned with us and I wish you for your continued success.
Very nice sir/madam my work is completed
Thankyou so much
