PSEB Punjab Board Class 6 Computer Science Textbook Solution Chapter 8 Output Devices Exercise Questions and Answers
Lesson No 8 – Output Devices
Exercise
Q1) Fill in the blanks:-
Q2) Short answer type questions:-
1) What are Output devices ?
Ans :- The term Output means releasing of the data or information from the computer to the outside world. In other terms it can be said as, displaying or showing the results to the user for the work done by the computer. The devices which are used to display the results to the user are known as Output Devices. For ex:- Monitor, Speakers, Printer, etc. Here also the work performed by the devices are different like Monitor shows the results of the work done to the user on its screen, Speakers are used to output the data into an audible form, whereas Printers are used to show the result on the paper by printing it.
2) What are Speakers?
Ans :- Speakers are used to transmit the audio input that is been received from the soundcard of the computer into the audio output in the form of soundwaves. Speakers are sued for listening to music or sound/ songs that is produced by the computer as it is connected to it. Hence speakers are also known as Output devices.
3) Where is projector used?
Ans :- Projectors are mainly used in schools, offices etc for the meetings to display information/data or some project to other people on a wider screen or on the wall.
4) What are the types of printers?
Ans :- There are three types of printers which are Dot Matrix printers, Ink jet Printers, Laser Printers.
5) Write a note on Printer?
Ans :- Printer is an output device which is used to print the information/data on the paper. The output result of information that we see on the monitor screen is known as the Softcopy where as after the information is printed on the paper its called as Hard copy. Nowadays, in the market you may find different types of printers having different speed, resolution, sizes etc. There are black and white printers and coloured printers which prints the coloured output on the information. There are three types of printers which are Dot Matrix printers, Ink jet Printers, Laser Printers. There are three types of printers which are Dot Matrix printers, Ink jet Printers, Laser Printers. There are three types of printers which are Dot Matrix printers, Ink jet Printers, Laser Printers.
6) Write the names of any three output devices
Ans:- Monitor, Printer, Speaker are the names of any three output devices.
Q3) Long answer type questions:-
1) Write note on monitor and its types?
Ans :- Monitor looks like a television screen which acts as a soft output device. Whatever the work is been done (processed) on the entered data/information, the result or output is displayed on the Monitor screen and hence it is an output device. The two types of monitors are as followed :-
- CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) Monitor :- This is mostly used monitor and generally looks like a television at home. There is a tube in this monitor. This monitor works as the it sends electrons on the screen, and then it will shine. Phosphorus coating is applied to CRT type monitors. As we know that on the screen image is made up of small dots called as pixels. Such pixels shines with the help of beam electrons. These pixels shines and darkens again and again which is known as Refresh (its rate is 30 times in a second). If the refresh rate is low the image keeps on moving as if the phosphor molecules loses its shine glow. The pixels shine is totally depending on the electron beams intensity whereas its intensity is much dependent on electron gun’s voltage. CRT monitors are available in the sizes 15”,17”,19” and 21”. In the olden we used to make use of black and white monitors but nowadays we make use of coloured monitors. CRT monitors have drawbacks such as they are large in size and make use of high power.
- Flat Panel Display :- As compared to the CRT monitors, the flat panel monitors are the monitors which are comparatively good in terms of volume, weight, and power consumption. This type of monitors can be hanged on the walls of the houses or offices etc. Some of the flat panel display includes/contains monitors, laptop computers, calculators, video games etc. LED, LCD and Plasma are some examples of Flat Panel display.
2) Write the difference between Input and Output Devices.
Ans :- The difference between the Input and Output Devices are as followed :-
- Input Devices :- The term Input means feeding of data or information into the computer from the outside world. This feeding of data or information into the computer is done with the help of devices known as Input Devices. For ex:- Mouse, Keyboard, Scanner Microphone, Joystick etc. Different devices are used for different purposes like Keyboard is used to input the data or information in a typed manner, Scanner is used to input any document or image into the computer in a scanned manner
- Output devices :- The term Output means releasing of the data or information from the computer to the outside world.
