1) Define Input Device?
Ans :- The term Input means feeding of data or information into the computer from the outside world. This feeding of data or information into the computer is done with the help of devices known as Input Devices. For ex:- Mouse, Keyboard, Scanner Microphone, Joystick etc. Different devices are used for different purposes like Keyboard is used to input the data or information in a typed manner, Scanner is used to input any document or image into the computer in a scanned manner
2) Write the name of any six input devices?
Ans :- Keyboard, Mouse, Microphone, Scanner, Web Camera, Joystick etc are the names of six input devices.
3) Write short Note on Joy stick?
Ans :- Joystick looks like a gear lever of a car which is mostly used to play games. Gear level handle of a joystick is attached to a trackball and is used to move the graphics on the computer screen, and button is used fire gun in the games. The gear level stick of joystick can be moved slowly or quickly as per the need. The stick can be rotated firm left to right direction. The flexibility of the joystick’s movement provides great control as compared to the keys on the keyboard.

1) Explain any two input devices
Ans :- The two input devices are :-
a) Mouse :- Mouse is an input device. It is also called a pointing device because to open any file, folder, program from the computer, we have to take our arrow cursor on a particular program/file/folder, and we have to double click (press the mouse left button buttons two times). We can make use of different options / functions like moving or copying any file or folder by selecting copy-paste or cut-paste from drop down list after we right click a mouse button. We can refresh our computer for fast processing/working. We can even create new file/folder and change its name to. We can draw any shapes or lines and apply different colours to it.
The typical mouse actions are as follows :-
i) left click :- is used to select any application/program.
ii) Double click:- Pressing of the mouse buttons for two time is termed as Double click. By double-clicking you can open any selected item/program
iii) Right click:- right click is used to show some commands and options that are available.
iv) Drag and drop:- You can easily select any item and move it from one place to another.
v) Scroll:- when the length size of the page is big, Scroll wheel is used to move the page in up and down direction or by pressing the scroll bars present/available at right hand side of any program.
b) Keyboard :- Keyboard is rectangular in shape. Keyboard has many buttons on it which are called as keys. There are overall 109 keys on the keyboard. Keyboard is also an Input device which means The user can enter the information or data into the computer in an typed (alphabets, numbers , special symbols etc) manner with the help of keyboard. Keyboard is connected to the computer with the help of wire. The structure of the keyboard is ad followed :-
The use and the different types of the buttons on the keyboard are as follows:-
- Alphabet keys:- There are 26 alphabet or letter keys on the keyboard from A to Z.
- Number Keys:- There are 0-9 number keys on the keyboard. Number keys are used to enter numbers in computer.
- Function keys:- There are 12 function keys from F1 – F12 on the keyboard which is used to perform various functions. It is mostly helpful in Tally (accounting software package).
- Enter key:- This key is made used to take the cursor to the new line and start the typing from the cursors placed position. This key is also used to execute the command.
- Spacebar key:- This is the longest key on the keyboard, which is used to add a space between a character or words.
- Backspace key:- This key is used to delete the word/alphabet and Move the cursor one step back.
- Caps lock:- This key is used to type any character/word in uppercase. When the key is on a light on the keyboard is on, which means the caps lock function is ON and when the light is off indicates the caps lock function is OFF.
- Esc key:- To cancel the execution
- Shift Key:- There are 2 shift keys on the keyboard., which is used with a combination of other keys on the keyboard for typing capital letters or special characters.
- Arrow keys:- There are 4 arrow keys on the keyboard for moving the cursor in Up, Down, Right and Left direction. Arrow keys are also known as Cursor keys.
- Delete key :- This key is present on the keyboard which is used to erase the characters that appears at the right hand side of the cursor.
- Alt key :- There are two Alt keys on the keyboard. This key is made use by combining the other key. For ex :- if Alt + F4 key is pressed together, then it performs the operation of closing of any opened program.
2) Write a note on Bar code Reader
Ans :- This is an electronic device which is used for reading the printed barcode on the product. It acts as a scanner. It consists of a light source, lens, light sensor translating optical impulses into the electrical form. You may find Bar code reader in every shops, malls or in stores etc for checking the exact price of the product or tracking the stock. The information that is attached into the barcode, is be captured and read by this Bar code reader.
3) What is Mouse? Explain the functions of Mouse Buttons.
Ans :- Mouse is an input device. 4) What are pointing devices? Explain with examples.
Ans :- The pointing devices means to perform any task/operation like opening of any file, folder or programs etc by placing/pointing your mouse arrow cursor on it and then opening it or Without typing, you can select some items from the computer screen like print or close button, or you can draw lines, curves and shapes with the help of the devices like mouse, joystick, touchpad, trackball etc. The examples of Pointing devices are as follows :-
i) Mouse :- Mouse is an input device. ii) Light Pen :- Light pen is connected to the VDU (Video Display Unit) and is a pointing device. Light pen looks like the manual pen that we use. This pen releases the light sensitive element from its tip. When this pen is kept on the screen, the screen detects the light of the pen and finds the exact position of the pen’s nip placed on the screen. With the help of light pen is easy for the user to draw.
5) Explain Special Keys and their functions.
Ans :- On the keyboard you may notice the presence of many buttons (keys) on the keyboard which includes Alphabetical keys, Numerical keys, Arrow keys, Functional keys, Special character/symbol keys, special keys. The Special keys on the keyboard are always used for performing special functions/operations. The different types of special keys on the keyboard and their uses are as follows :-
i) Delete key :- This key is present on the keyboard which is used to erase the characters that appears at the right hand side of the cursor.
ii) Back space key :- This key you may find above the Enter key which is used to erase the letters which are/ that appears at the left hand side of the cursor.
iii) Enter key : – This key is made used to take the cursor to the new line and start the typing from the cursors placed position. This key is also used to execute the command.
iv) Space bar :- This is the longest key on the keyboard, which is used for applying the space between the letters or word.
v) Control :- You may find two control keys (named as Ctrl ) on the keyboard. This key is always used with the combination other key for its function/operation. For ex :- when we make a combination of Ctrl + S keys, is used for saving a file, Ctrl + P – Printing the file, Ctrl + O – Opening the existing file from the computer etc.
vi) Alt key :- There are two Alt keys on the keyboard. This key is made use by combining the other key. For ex :- if Alt + F4 key is pressed together, then it performs the operation of closing of any opened program.
vii) Caps lock :- This key is used to type any character/word in uppercase. When the key is on a light on the keyboard is on, which means the caps lock function is ON and when the light is off indicates the caps lock function is OFF. When the Caps lock (indicated by turning on the light) is ON, then the letters or characters appears to be in Upper case when we type and vice versa.
