A personal letter can be divided into two types. The first type of personal letter is “person-to-person ”letter, this is the type of informal letter. The first type of letter can be written to relatives, friends, sisters, brothers, mother, father etc.
Following are some letters which can be written in person-to-person letters: Letter for apology, letter to welcome a guest, thanking letter, letter of congratulations and many more.
Second type of personal letter is “person-to-business”. This is the type of formal letter. This letter is used to write to businesses and institutions that deals with business relationships which includes Acceptance letter, resignation letter, etc.

Do’s:
- Use official language while writing a person-to-business letter.
- Use calm and respectful language in the letter
- Add minimum three paragraphs while writing both person-to-person letter and person-to -business letter.
Don’t:
- Don’t use rough words while writing both letters.
- Don’t write wrong information while writing a letter. Sender address, receiver address, date, signature etc. should be correct.
- Don’t add idioms and phrases in person-to-business letter.
Personal letters can be used in so many fields whether it is from family member to family member or business partners to its relating members. 1) Person-to-person letter is a type of informal letter so you can use unofficial language while writing this type of letter in which you can add words like dear, lovingly etc.
2) Use polite and respectful language while writing a letter.
3) Body of the letter should be a minimum of three paragraphs and should contain all the required information.
