Across the whole part of India, the season of harvest is celebrated with pomp and joy Pongal is often celebrated in the southern part of India. This festival makes the growing and harvesting of new crops. Pongal means to boil in Tamil. The people in south India prepare a sweet dish with the newly harvested rice, jiggery and milk and is offered to God It signifies the hard work of the farmers and their effort to provide food to the enter mankind .Pongal is celebrated in different part of India as Bihu, Makar Sankranti and Lohri It is a festival of thanks giving to the Sun God.
It is often celebrated in the months of January or February. It has usually four days of celebration. Farmers eagerly wait for the festival of Pongal. It is often seen as the brilliance of the climate along with the soil and water.
