1.) Why does Indrani Debi dislike Duttada’s “hobnobbing” with Dibya?
Answer: Dibya was Duttada’s telescope. He would hobnob with Dibya for hours and this was not liked by his wife. She thought of Dibya like a designing woman who had cast spell on him.

Answer: As mentioned in the story, Planets and comets both orbit round the Sun but the orbit of the comets are highly eccentric. Comets can be new, coming as they do from the remote corners of the Solar System. Once in a while a comet comes close to the sun. It has a longish tail that is lit brilliantly by the sunlight and then it recedes into darkness that cannot be seen for years or even for centuries.
5.) Why was Duttada hopeful that he would discover a new comet soon?
Answer: Duttada was an optimistic man. He believed that he would discover a new comet soon, for he knew that the professionals had their pre-assigned programs of looking at faint stars and nebulous galaxies. They would not give much importance to such insignificant thing as a comet. Amateurs had often discovered new comets which the professionals had missed.
