1.) Why did the man stare at Bepin Babu in disbelief?
Answer: The man named Parimal Ghose recalled many things that would make Bepin Babu remember his trip to Ranchi,but all in vain as Bepin Babu could not even remember a single thing. This made the man stare at Bepin Babu.
2.) Where did Bepin Babu say he went in October ’58?
Answer: Bepin Babu said that he was in Kanpur with his friend in October ’58.
3.) Mention any three (or more) things that Parimal Ghose knew about Bepin Babu.
Answer: Parimal Ghose knew that Bepin Babu is a book lover and always carried at the sight-seeing. Bepin Babu didn’t have any child and his wife passed away ten years ago. And his brother died in mental hospital, these are some of the things that Parimal Ghose knew about Bepin Babu.

1.) Why did Bepin Babu worry about what Parimal Ghose had said?
Answer: Since the meeting with Parimal Ghose ,Bepim Babu was a bit restless as Parimal knew many things about Bepin of which some were very intitmate.
2.) How did he try to decide who was right—his memory or Parimal Ghose?
Answer: To sort out his confusion and restlessness , Bepin Babu called Dinesh Mukherjee who he thought would knew better.
3.) Why did Bepin Babu hesitate to visit Mr Mukerji? Why did he finally decide to phone him?
Answer: If he visited to Mr.Mukerji to know about Ranchi trip, Mukerji would think that Bepin Babu had gone mad and it would make him embarrassed so to avoid this embarrasement ,he decided to reach him out.
4.) What did Mr Mukerji say? Did it comfort Bepin Babu, or add to his worries?
Answer:Mr.Mukerji told Bepin Babu that they had been to Ranchi in ’58 and this made Bepin Babu worry more and lost his appetite.

1.) Who was Chunilal? What did he want from Bepin Babu?
Answer:Chunilal was an old friend of Bepin Babu. Chunilal had a bad time and came to Bepin Babu to seek help regarding his job.
2.) Why was Dr Chanda puzzled? What was unusual about Bepin Babu’s loss of memory?
Answer: Dr Chandra was a young physician and didn’t have such case before. He didn’t experience such case before and new to him so this made him puzzled.

1.) Had Bepin Babu really lost his memory and forgotten all about a trip to Ranchi?
Answer: No, Bepin Babu had not really lost his memory and forgotten all about a trip to Ranchi as he visits it again, he remembers everything.
2.) Why do you think Chunilal did what he did? Chunilal says he has no money; what is it that he does have?
Answer: Chunilal was an old friend of Bepin Babu who was in trouble and asked Bepin’s help. But Bepin Babu ignored him and didn’t help him. This made Chunilal sad and he wanted to teach Bepin a lesson and created the entire incident. Chunilal had good imagination power and he used it a way that made Bepin realize his mistake.

1.) The author describes Bepin Babu as a serious and hardworking man. What evidence can you find in the story to support this?
Answer:Bepin Babu was reputed employee and worked without getting tired. His way of work was correct and careful, these things make clear that he was a serious and hardworking man.
2.) Why did Bepin Babu change his mind about meeting Chunilal? What was the result of this meeting?
Answer: When Chunilal went to meet Bepin , Bepin was not in mood to meet him as he had his own problem. But then a thought crossed his mind that Chunilal might remember of his Ranchi trip so he met him. The meeting ended making Bepin a bit confused and take doctor’s advice on his condition.
3.) Bepin Babu lost consciousness at Hudroo Falls. What do you think was the reason for this?
Answer: It seems that Bepin Babu lost his consciousness at Hudroo Falls as he might have slipped recollecting the past experience he had.
4.) How do you think Bepin Babu reacted when he found out that Chunilal had tricked him?
Answer: Bepin Babu lost all his hopes after the Hudroo Falls’ unconsciousness incident. But at the same time he receives his friend’s Chunillal’s letter that clearly explains how his condition was pity and he failed to help his friend but what he had was his imagination to play trick on him which worked. From this Bepin Babu realizes his mistake.
