1.) Look at picture 1 and recall the opening lines of the original song in Hindi. Who is the singer? Who else do you see in this picture?
Answer: The opening lines are of the Hindi patriotic song ‘’Aye mere vatankelogo,jara ankh me bharlopani,jo shahid huyehaiunkijarayaad karo kurbani’’. Lata Manageshkar is the singer of the song. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru,Mrs. Indira Gandhi and LalbahudarShashtri can be seen in the picture.
2.) In picture 2 what do you understand by the Company’s “superior weapons”?
Answer: The British East Company extended its power in India with its superior weapons which were divide and rule.
3.) Who is an artisan? Why do you think the artisans suffered?(picture 3)
Answer: An artisan is someone who makes craft . The artisans suffered because the laws made by the East India Company that were not in favour of the artisans and this made their business suffer.

1.) Do you think the Indian princes were short-sighted in their approach to the events of 1757?
Answer: The Indian princes were definitely short-sighted in their approach as they fought among themselves rather than coming together as one and fighting against the British. This made the British more confident and plan their actions.
2.) How did the East India Company subdue the Indian princes?
Answer: The British were very smart and cunning in their strategy . The British East Company extended their power in India. They used divide and rule policy and divided Indian princes and they fought among themselves. This made British to control others.
3.) Quote the words used by Ram Mohan Roy to say that every religion teaches the same principles.
Answer: Ram Mohan Roy was a learned man and believed in knowledge.” Cows are of different colors, but the color of their milk is the same. Different teachers have different opinions but the essence of every religion is the same.” –these were the wise words used by Ram Mohan Roy to say that every religion teaches the same principles.
