(a) Name the six seasons according to the Indian calendar. Which of the seasons is equivalent to autumn?
Ans: – Vasanta, grishma, Varsha, sharada, Hemonta, shishira.
The sharada season is equivalent to autumn.
(b) What changes do we see in the life of human beings when the season changes? Write with reference to their (a) clothes (b) diet (c) celebrations.
Ans: – Summer (clothes) :
Clothes that we use during summer are made of cotton fabric and are light colored.
(diet) : Food which has water content and help to keep the body hydrated. Citrus fruits , lots of water and juices are good for summer
Celebrations:
Many festivals like Holi, Baisakhi Etc take place.
Winter (Clothes):
Winter season is cold, so to protects the body and keep it warm we need to wear jackets, mufflers, socks, gloves, etc.
Diet: Food which keeps the body warm is beneficial for winters. Soups, leafy vegetables, garlic etc are good for the body.
Celebration: Festivals like pongal, Diwali, chhat pooja are celebrated.
Monsoon:
Clothes: Fabric like light cotton partially synthetic, nylon is used. Raincoat boots are also used.
Diet: – Spicy foods are very common in monsoon fruits like jamun, litchi, peach etc. Indian foods like tea and snacks are highly eaten.
Celebration: – Ramjan, onam, Ganesh chaturthi etc are celebrated.

Ans: – The autumn signifies harvest. Hence the maiden is said to wear rice stems in her hair.
(c) Why do you think, birds greet the autumn season gladly?
Ans: – Autumn season brings with itself vibrant colors and ripend fruits and berries covering the tree , thus providing ample amount of food for the birds. Thus the birds greet the autumn season gladly.
(6) Compare the Indian Monsoon season to a powerful king of a prosperous kingdom. Write down a few similarities. Use them to compose a poem of your own.
Ans: – The similarities between the autumn and the prosperous king are as follows.
(a) The rain brings happiness and prosperity to the people doing agricultural activates, which is similar to that of a king bringing prosper and growth in his kingdom
(b) The farmer depends on the rain for his agricultural work which guises his economic stability , similarly a poor man depends on the king for his likelihood.
(c ) The rain drops falling from the sky glitter just like the emeralds in the king’s.
