3.) Explain the following concepts.
(1) The functions of the Rapid Action Force
Ans) Suppose there is a national emergency or if any kind of emergency situation arises inside the country, it is the duty of the Rapid Action Force to bring back people’s normal lives. They have to take rapid actions against the threat of National Security such as bomb blasts or riots.
(2) Human Security
Ans) Human Security is an idea, idea of human-centric thinking. Here every human being has the right to get protection from all sorts of dangers and they should be given the opportunities of education, health and development. It states that conducive environment should be created for everybody to live a respectable life by overcoming illiteracy, poverty, superstition, backwardness, etc. After the Cold war period the concept of National Security has changed into Human security.
(3) Home Guard
Ans) The organisation allowed the citizens to join as a Home Guard to assist in the defence of the country. They have to maintain public security, supply of milk, water and other essential services during riots or strikes, to regulate traffic, to help people at the time of natural disasters like floods, earthquakes, etc. Man or woman, ages between 20 to 35 years, is allowed to join the organisation.

Ans) The threats to national security are-
- Continuous threat from Pakistan and China is a great challenge for national peace. There are several disputes between India and Pakistan likeKashmir issue, disputes over river water sharing dispute over the border, etc.
- India had a great war with China in the year 1962 and we know that both are important countries in Asia. There are tensions in Sino-Indian relations as China is trying to establish its own hegemony over countries that are India’s neighbours.
- India’s security is also getting threatened by Religion, regionalism, several rebellious movements based on ideology, race-ethnicity and economic inequality.
- Lastly Terrorism is the biggest challenge to national security.
(2) Write the functions of the Border Security Force.
Ans) By preventing smuggling, patrolling the border The Border Security Force performs creates a sense of security in the minds of people living in areas near the border.
