**(1) Find the volume of a box if its length, breadth and height are 20 cm, 10.5 cm and ****8 cm respectively.**

**Solution:** Given, length = 20 cm; breadth = 10.5 cm, Height = 8 cm.

∴ Volume = (l x b x h)

= (20 x 10.5 x 8)

= 1680 Cube Centimetre

**(2) A cuboid shape soap bar has volume 150 cc. Find its thickness if its length is**

**is 10 cm and breadth is 5 cm.**

**Solution:** Soap volume = 150 cc

length = 10 cm; breadth = 5 cm.

thickness = l x b x h = 150

=) 10 x 5 x h = 150

=) h = 150/50

=) h = 3 cm.

∴ Thickness is 3 cm.

**(3) How many bricks of length 25 cm, breadth 15 cm and height 10 cm are required ****to build a wall of length 6 m, height 2.5 m and breadth 0.5 m?**

**Solution:** Volume of bricks = (l x b x h)

= (20 x 15 x 10)

= 3750 cm^{3}

Total Volume = (l x b x h)

= (6 x 2.5 x 0.5) m^{3}

= (600 x 250 x 50) cm^{3}

= 7500000 cm^{3}

∴ Bricks required = 7500000 / 3750

= 2000 bricks required.

**(4) For rain water harvesting a tank of length 10 m, breadth 6 m and depth 3m is**

**built. What is the capacity of the tank ? How many litre of water can it hold?**

**Solution: **Tank, length = 10 m

breadth = 6 m

depth = 3 m

∴ Volume = (10 x 6 x 3)

= 180 m^{3}

We know, 1 meter cube = 1000 litre

∴ 180 meter cube = 180000 litre.

Total capacity of the tank is 180000 litre.

**Rules:**

(1) Total Surface area of a Cuboid = 2(l x b + b x h + l x h)

(2) Total surface area of a cube = 6l^{2}

(3) Volume of cuboid = l x b x h.

(4) Volume of Cube = l^{3}
