(1) Who is the speaker in this poem?
Ans: – The brook is the speaker in this poem. The Brook narrates it’s story.
(2) Which lines are repeated in the poem? What do they mean?
Ans: –
‘To join the brimming river
for men may some and men may go.
But I go on for ever.’
Meaning of these lines –
The Brook narrates its own story in this poem.
The Brook mean the stream it talks of its beginning, its journey, through various landforms and finally its destination which is the brimming river.
The poet compares here a man’s journey of life to the Brook’s journey. The Brook is eternal and flows forever, but whereas man is transient. The Brook says that men came and go but it says forever.
(3) Where does the brook join the river?
Ans: – Destination of the brook is brimming river mean which is full of water flows bes the Phillip’s farm mean someone’s field/ landmark after which the brook join the river where full of water up to the brim obtained.
Brook flows towards the brimming river, towards the river, towards the river which is full of water, which is very prosperous, developing growth and happiness.
(4) Mention the various places that the brook flows past.
Ans: – Brook flows with a lot of noise down the valleys. On brook ways it crosses various places like – many hills, ridges, villages, towns, bridges, and forms to reach it destination. It crocess many vacant land and beautiful fairy lands which are full of flowers. It also crocess lawns, gardens full of hazelnut trees and forget me not flowers.
(5) Often the brook speaks of itself as if it is human.
For example, ‘I bicker down a valley.’

Ans: – The brook, born in high mountains where coot and herons live. I visited those places, where water birds lived. It flows with a lot of noise down the valley’s. On the journey, I crosses many hills, villages, towns, bridges, farms, and finally I join a river and become one with it. After joining the river I become quite soft and peaceful and now I flow quietly. But my life is quite similar to a man also not completely matching. Man come when they are born and go when they die. But in my case, it is forever. It keeps on flowing and never ends. That’s mean my life (brook) is permanent where as men are temporary.
Like men the brook also experiences different things. I also teach men many different things I teach them to overcoming all hardles and obstacles. Like my life I inspire man to move towards his goals. In my life journey, I’m faces a lot of obstacles, my path is also be full of with problems and hardles. So I suggest the man, go towards their goals and achieve them they must keep moving like me. As I flow freely, happily and enjoyed every moment of my life journey and finally I got my destination which is the river. Lastly Brook(s) repeats that the men are transient, but my journey goes on forever.
(9) Which other things in nature can say –
‘For men may come and men may go,
But I go on for ever.’
