Exercise: –
1) Reorganize the following food chain. Describe the ecosystem to which it belongs. Grasshopper – Snake – Paddy field – Eagle – Frog.
Ans: –Paddy field –grasshopper – frog – snake –eagle.
In an ecosystem energy is transform from primary to tertiary consumer. Here paddy is primary consumer eating it grasshopper which is a secondary consumer the energy transfer to frog. The frog then consumes by snake which is a tertiary. After eating snake, the eagle which react as quaternary consumer.
2) Explain the statement- ‘we have got this Earth planet on lease from our future generations and not as an ancestral property from our ancestors.’
Ans: – This earth is for everyone so all we must take care of our nature. We should protect our each an every thing as all of this is gift from nature. One thing we must be followed if anyone affect the nature everyone be faces that problem. We should use the renewable energy source as the non-renewable energy sources are limited. We must follow the sustainable development in which everything should gave the same importance.
3) Write short notes.
a.) Environmental Conservation.
Ans: – To protect our nature we should have some organization by which we can implement some rules as a punishment for those who try to damage our beautiful nature. For maintain the ecological balance there should be a proper rule for environmental conservation. Now a days various non government organization take responsibility for protection the ecosystem.
b.) Chipko Movement of Bishnoi.
Ans: – Chipko movement started in Uttarakhand in 1970 for protection of Forest. The people in that region protest against the cutting of trees of a forest. People here stick to every tree to protect from cutting. At last government agree to the people that they revoke their decision.
c.) Biodiversity.
Ans: – In a particular are where the different types of specie’sanimal and plants are seen which must be protected from the contact of the normal people. In a biodiversity we see a wide variety of plant and animal. This region will have ecological balance as there is rich of variety of different species.
d.) Sacred Groves.
Ans: –Sacred Groves is a religious tree of various community which is protected by various NGO or sometimes by government. It is predicated that there are about 1300 types of sacred groves.
e.) Disaster and its management.
Ans: – There happen various natural phenomenon by which the natural life of us affected. So, the various natural phenomenon like tsunami, heavy rain, flood, landslide, earthquake, cyclone these situations sometimes become dangerous for people and create a huge disaster. For every country there present a disaster management force or NGO are always ready for help in that situation. In India we have NDRF, SDRF for the disaster management.
4) How will you justify that overcoming the pollution is a powerful way of environmental management?
Ans: –There are various way to protect our nature from pollution which are –
- Reduce the use of non-renewable source and increase the use of renewable source.
- Do not use plastic as it creates a huge impact in nature.
- There must be separate place for storage of polluted water.
- There should be a strict rule for deforestation.
5) Which projects will you run in relation to environmental conservation? How?
Ans: – To protect the environment and make a good relation for the conservation of environmental we should make a project on conservation of water and forest. As only to make these two factors is sufficient to conservation of earth. For the water conservation there should be given necessary steps to tackle water pollution. And for the conservation of Forest there is needed a possible step to protect deforestation. For the protection of forest, we should make the locality people aware of the benefit of conservation of forest.
6) Answer the following.
a.) Write the factors affecting environment.
Ans: – The factor which affect the environment is the water pollution, soil erosion, deforestation, population burst etc. These phenomena make our environmental imbalance or other wards the ecological balance affected by this.
b.) Why does the human beings have important place in environment?
Ans: – The human being has an importance place in environment as human maintain the balance by collecting the natural resources. This importance sometimes makes huge impact because of heavy uses of coal, petroleum things etc. When this human activity become uncontrollable the this will be affected the ecological balance.
c.) Write the types and examples of biodiversity.
Ans: – The three types of biodiversity are seen which is genetic diversity, species diversity, ecosystem diversity. The human is an example of genetic diversity as there are different types of people are seen. Plant and animal are the example of species diversity and in forest including all the plant, animal create the ecosystem diversity.
d.) How the biodiversity can be conserved?
Ans: – The biodiversity is conserved in two ways one is in-situ and ex-situ conservation. In in-situ conservation the animal and plant are protected and conserved in their own habitat. Where as in ex-situ conservation the animal is kept out from its own habitat and separately conserved.
e.) What do we learn from the story of Jadav Molai Peyang?
Ans: –Jadav Molai Peyang is an Assamese man who planted tree for about 16 to 17 years and make a forest in about 1360 acres. He is very nature friendly man who dedicated his life for the forest. For this great achievement Indian government gave him the Padmashree award.
f.) Write the names of biodiversity hot spots.
Ans: – A wide variety of ananimal and plat which is consisted in a certain place or in a biodiversity when affected by different activities of us then this region is called the biodiversity hot spot. The biodiversity region in India is Western ghat region of India, Eastern Himalayan region.
g.) Which are the reasons for endangering the many species of plants and animals? How can we save those?
Ans: –For the last 20 years our earth has lost about 27 species because of ecological imbalance. For this lost of the species the scientists came up with the different reasons which is habitat loss and fragmentation, over exploitation etc.
To protect this endangered species, we must take necessary steps which is protect the habitat of this endangered plant and animal. There must be strict rules for the poachers and hunters. The poaching is the main reason for endangered animal.
7) What are the meanings of following symbols? Write your role accordingly?
Ans: – Symbol 1 represent the recycling which is very important. if we recycle some waste of products instead of making from the raw material then it will be very helpful for our nature also for example recycle of paper is very important instead of cutting trees. Symbol 2 represent about the conservation of water which is very important for todays as there are some places, we have seen the water shortage in summer season. If we conserve the water, it will give relief from draught.
Symbol 3 represent the solar panels which creates a huge impact for electricity production in today’s polluted nature. By reducing the use of petroleum and coal we must focus on solar energy which will be a sustainable development for our nature.
