(1) Explain the similarities and differences between the population distribution in Brazil and India.
Ans)The distribution of population is very uneven in Brazil and in India. India’s population is around 121 crore according to Census 2011. India is the second most populous country in the world.Brazil ranks 5th in the World,with a population of around 19 crore, according to Census 2010. India supports 17.5 % of the world’s population and Brazil has 2.78% of world’s total population. Due to farming, industries and trade, the proportion of the population got concentrated in the northern plains of the country.On the contrary, in mountainous hilly regions, dry desert areas, dense forest areas, density is sparse because of inaccessibility, absence of facilities and tough life.In Brazil the Amazon Basin,the central and western part of Brazil is less populated due to unfavourable climate, heavy rainfall, accessibility and dense forests etc. Eastern coastal areas are densely populated in Brazil because of flourishing agriculture and industries .
(2) Giving examples, correlate climate and population distribution.
Ans) population distribution is correlated with climatic condition of that place. Favourable climatic condition, mainly temperate types of climate, moderate rainfall etc. is responsible behind highpopulation density. For example Northern plain of India and Eastern coastal area of Brazil are densely populated because of its favourable climatic condition.

Ans) Brazil’s population density is very less because most of the part of Brazil is covered with Amazon Basin.Unfavourable climate, heavy rainfall, accessibility and dense forests are the barriers to development of human settlements here. Again the central , western part of Brazil and highland areas are not favourable for dense human settlement because of its climatic condition and physical environment.
(c) India’s population density is high.
