Let the present age of Arati and Akash be 5x and 7x years. Respectively

after four years 5x + 4, 7x + 4

The ratio is 5x + 4/7x + 4 = 7/9

45x + 36 = 49x + 28

8 = 4x, x = 2

Arati’s present age = 5x

= 5 × 2 = 10 years (b)
