45x + 36 = 49x + 28

8 = 4x, x = 2

Arati’s present age = 5x

= 5 × 2 = 10 years (b)

Perimeter of rectangle = 2 (length + width)

15 = 2 (l+ 5/3)

∴ Dividing by 2 on both sides we get, l = 35/6 cm (d)

**The number of boys and girls in the class 9:5, the number of boys 12 more than the number of girls. What is the total class strength? **

then the equation is 9x – 5x = 12
