Labelled diagram of Regeneration in planaria
Labelled diagram of Regeneration in planaria: Many organisms have ability to give birth to new individual organisms from their body parts that is if an individual is cut or fragmented into several pieces, many of these pieces grow into separate individuals. For example, simple animals like hydra and planaria can be cut into any number of pieces, and each piece grows into a whole organism. This is known as regeneration. Reproduction carried out by specialized cells. These cells grow and form larger cells. From this mass of cells, different cells forms different types of cell and tissues. These changes occur in an organised sequence known as development. However, reproduction is not the same as reproduction, as most organisms do not normally depend on being cut to be able to reproduce. Regeneration is the process in which an organism is divided into several parts and each part returns to its original state. This process is carried out by special cells called stem cells. It occurs in organisms that are structured with very few specialized cells.
