Changes associated with puberty are caused by the secretion of estrogen in women. Hormones secreted by endocrine glands have specific functions.
The function of the pituitary gland is to stimulate the growth of all organs. Thyroid gland controls metabolism for body growth. The insulin controls blood sugar levels in the body. The ovaries secrete the hormone estrogen for the development of the female sex organs and to regulate the menstrual cycle. Releasing hormones stimulate the pituitary gland to release hormones.
