Hello Students, Here we are provided Labelled diagram of Cross Section of Leaf with pencil in a simple way. Drawing of Cross Section of Leaf can be huge struggle for beginners. CBSE / ICSE students who are always avoid drawing, this post is just for you!
Students of Class 6, Class 7, Class 8, Class 9 & Class 10 CBSE / ICSE board Students can follow this post. Here we have also added a Video by our Teacher, in where our Mam has indicated each Part as well as function of each part.

- Autotrophic nutrition
Photosynthesis is the process in which carbon and energy requirements of the autotrophic organisms are fulfilled. The substances like carbon dioxide and water is taken from outside and the autotrophic organisms convert it into food or stored form of energy.
The reaction of photosynthesis is occurs as –
- If the cross section of the leaf is observed under microscope then, we will notice the parts of leaf are –
1) Vascular bundle – phloem and xylem tissue
Phloem – transports food to each and every part of the plant
Xylem – fluid connective tissue (transports water and minerals to each and every cells of the plant)
Under vascular bundle we observe –
2) Waxy cuticle
3) Upper epidermis
4) Chloroplast
5) Air spaces
6) Guard cell
7) Lower epidermis
- In the cross- section of the leaf we can clearly see some cells containing green dots, which are known as chloroplast.
- Chloroplast contains chlorophyll which is essential for the process of photosynthesis.
- Following are the steps which occurs in the photosynthesis, what exactly happens in the process of photosynthesis is-
1) Chlorophyll is the pigment which captures the light energy from the sun
2) Then water molecules gets spilt into hydrogen and oxygen by the process of conversion of light energy into chemical energy
3) The reduction of the carbon dioxide into the carbohydrates is the last step of the process.
